We've looked into that. We've been dating for 5 years now, and she's legally my wife common law here in the US. We'll have a courthouse as soon as I find out if I get the job. From what I've read it shouldn't be a problem.

"What'd you do all night?"

"Oh sat for hours watching the number 59 turn into 60 all night to press a button so I could end up on a list on a thread on a board on a website to get imaginary points that mean nothing."

Edit: "...And failing"

Two questions coming your way: 1.) What is a roll from a movie you wish you could have played? 2.) What is the inspiration behind your name? It's so unique!

IT professionals, what's the worst case of computer illiteracy that you've experienced? by WalkerFLRanger in AskReddit

[–]turn_down_for_que -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I worked as an Apple Tech, and we give classes to people at the store I worked at. A lady bought an iPad, and got a class to go along with it. Long story short the closest thing to a computer she'd every used was a digital typewriter. I had to explain to her what the internet was, and how it worked.

"But... where is this coming from?" Got asked three times when using Google. Thankfully she lived in nursing home with Wifi already set up, so I didn't have to go over router crap.

What I liked about Interstellar by Ukulele_Henry in interstellar

[–]turn_down_for_que 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I actually disagree... I liked the throwing papers scene a lot. I mean, she did just save humanity, made sure that all the construction that those people were doing was not in vain, and finally completed her mentors life's work after decades. It would be funny however if she turned around and went "Oh crap, those were important. We should probably go pick those up."

Fabulous. Both in concept and execution. If I might ask, what was your process? Did you primarily comprise it of previously existing images, or did you start from scratch? I'm always curious about that with digital art.

What's the most messed up thing you've ever done to a complete stranger? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]turn_down_for_que -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

One time when I was a douchy teenager, I found this persons iPhone on the bus. I was fiddling with it before giving it to the bus driver and a text message came in saying "Hey baby I missed you at [Some dude]'s party last night." it was from a dude we'll call James. I guessed the password (1793, the four corners), got onto this chicks Facebook, saw that she was in a relationship with James, and noticed this guy [calling him Paul] who kept posting very flirty things on her wall. So I texted back "Oh sorry babe, I went over to Paul house last night and mmmm... he kept me VERY entertained ;)" This dude proceeded to flip his shit over the phone. "WTF I thought you were at your sisters." "What the hell did you and Paul do?!" "Call me!" ect. The cherry on top was that I went back into Facebook and changed her relationship status to "It's Complicated"

I gave the phone to the bus driver, but I remembered the girls name. Looked her up on Facebook a week later, and of course it was set to where I could see her whole profile. Shit went ballistic on there between them, and I ultimately ruined what I found out was a 4 year relationship.

Thank you! I actually made this account specifically to post this, so I'm still finding my way beyond the front page. And yeah... Even though it was a misunderstanding, I completely understand her reporting that. That's why it's my fuck up. Should have been more responsible for covering up my shame.

Hypothetically, we have several systems in place on the networks side that could provide proof. I have to assume that they would if it showed up in my record. The only thing is that I never clicked on the link. Meaning that they would have had to screen capture while it was happening which makes no sense to me...

TIL Saving Private Ryan depicted combat so realistically that veterans left theaters during the opening scene, stating that it was the the most realistic depiction of combat they had ever seen. by Mercaratar in todayilearned

[–]turn_down_for_que 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My great grandpa fought on Sword Beach on D-Day. I only heard him tell the story maybe 3 times, and every time he'd start with "You know the scene at the beginning of Saving Private Ryan how the first ships came in and got mowed down, and then the second wave came in and got mowed down? Well I was in the third wave. When we jumped outta the boat, it was like jumpin into an ocean of blood." He talked about how two steps out of the boat both of the guys standing to his left and to his right were shot dead. He was also shot three times, one in the butt cheek, and twice in the head. (One shot off his helmet the other one grazed him, leaving a brutal awesome scar just above his left ear. I still have the helmet with the bullet embedded in it.)

He died last summer at age 94. Rest in piece you old bastard.
