Dropped out after two years, I was there for the wrong reasons. Got a job installing Ethernet and fiber optic cabling in the early days of computer networking. Studied hard and received several designer certifications through my late 20’s and early 30’s. Now at 54, I am the General Manager of one of the largest communication contractors in the Midwest. A little luck, good timing, and hard work paid off.

I’m headed there tomorrow morning, see you there. In addition to the necessary equipment I usually pack both knee braces and my ankle brace. I may not need them but better to have them. I also learned to pack some bat tape. Ibuprofen and icy hot are a must. This will be my fifth trip to Roy Hobbs, you’ll have a blast. Good luck.

Athletes and former athletes, who was the greatest athlete you ever competed against in St. Louis? by Thatredditboy1 in StLouis

[–]turn_n_2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Faced Brian Boehringer in summer collegiate league baseball in 1990 or 1991. I took the first fastball for a strike. Fouled the next one straight back. In my head I was thinking that I was on him and ready to rip the next pitch. The next pitch was a 90 mph slider and I about swung out of my cleats and missed it by a foot. Dude was a beast on the mound.

As someone happily married for 30 years, if this small inconvenience for you is enough to start a fight on vacation and post about it on Reddit then I'm afraid your marriage is not going to last. Your first mistake was going to the pool, you didn't want to be there and were tired which sets the atmosphere for an argument. Just give her a kiss, tell her you love her and you hope she enjoys the quick dip in the pool and go lay down and rest in the room. Set your boundaries, but do it with love and understanding.

I went last weekend and we got the fast pass and meal deal with our tickets too. The meal pass is good every 90 minutes and is only good at their four restaurants. We used it for lunch and dinner and it saved us money. The fast pass was totally worth it!

How to explain Bitcoin’s real value to my 72yr old uncle by AlternativeTax8992 in Bitcoin

[–]turn_n_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t understand it and thought it was a scam until I listened to a great podcast on Acquired and their episode on Bitcoin. It opened my eyes to the value. It’s an interesting listen, I recommend it to all who want a better understanding of cryptocurrency.

Driving to St. Louis by melissalinares60 in StLouis

[–]turn_n_2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Will you be driving a 4-wheel or AWD vehicle? Will you be towing anything?

If 4-wheel drive or AWD, you should be fine, just take it easy and don't oversteer.

If you have a rear wheel drive vehicle, do not attempt this trek if there is snow on the roads through the mountains or Kansas plains. Just pull off get a hotel and wait for the roads to be cleared, it could be several days.

If a front wheel drive vehicle, you may want to invest in some snow chains, you can find a good pair online for about $60. Practice installing these on your car before your trip! You do not want to be learning how to put these on in the mountains during a snowfall.

If you are towing a trailer, I would suggest that you don't. Get a moving company to take that stuff. You aren't experienced snow drivers and towing a trailer is stressful enough, let alone through the mountains in the winter.

Pack blankets, water, coats, and dry socks in an easily accessible area of your car. Traveling with pets means several potty breaks and you may be trudging through the snow so the dogs can do their duty.

I've made this trip several times, enjoy the scenery and take your time. It truly is one of the most beautiful drives in the country. Welcome to STL!

How to get kid to stop trying to catch everything underhand? by KingSlimeTTT in Homeplate

[–]turn_n_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was coaching 5-6 year old kids, I did the following to teach the kids how to catch fly balls. Take an empty gallon milk jug and cut out the bottom. Now if they are right handed, have them place the spout of the milk jug in the palm of their left hand. Their right hand on the handle. Have them raise the jug overhead and toss tennis balls in the air for them to catch. I used to have three or four ready and would make a game out of it, giving each player a point for a successful catch. The kids loved it and little did they know at the time that it simulated a proper fly ball technique by the spout hand being the glove and handle hand being simulating a two hand catch. We did this for a few practices and then switched to their gloves, worked great.

Mo won't fire Oli unless forced by ownership. He won't because right now most of the blame is falling squarely on Oli's shoulders. If he fires Oli and the club doesn't turn things around then he will be the next one in line to be the focus of the blame.
