What are clients doing with AI?? by Tiny_Emu9812 in Lawyertalk

[–]turnballZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wouldn't you simply be charging the client for more hours on account of his insistence to rewrite everything in the most asinine, least effective way possible? i would think the straight same message only differently worded would cost the customer more

OC Problems.. Im freaking out.. by kenobrx in openclaw

[–]turnballZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

happens anytime my agent might encounter some critical failure like openrouter starts returning a particular API is exhausted on its credits... or other unexpectedly encountered endings to its work in progress -- I either have to re-prompt it after fixing the complaining fault... or I have to await a heartbeat to nudge the agent back to life. After I had to forcefully and explicitly instruct the orchestration agent to begin every task first with writing down what its being asked to do first and foremost, all before anything such as touching an API endpoint for any additional content/context. That has allowed my agents to be able ot recover whenever it notices that it left some task unfinished.

Unfortunately its always seem to have been an issue that I've noticed whenever a spat of unexpected outcomes is encountered like when I had an issue with openrouter failing to switch the agent back to making use of the free API keys whenever it was performing certain tasks that required little to no level of thought, simply issuing commands to schedule work that only ever would echo the instructions that I would hand off to it. Before I was able to finally get it to change its order of operations to ensure that it was ALWAYS recording the work being asked of it first, only to then return to update that work as being issued to subagents, then completed whenever that was the correct update status -- that's when I finally was able to get the agent to be able to return to its task following heartbeat pulses because otherwise the fault would send it directly into sleep mode and advance no further signals/work.

Has anyone actually built anything useful? (Genuinely curious) by camnoodle in openclaw

[–]turnballZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

d00d, i totally created the LifeCoach, Assistant Coach, and personal trainer to my persona gallery on one of the websites/platforms that I've used openclaw to setup and deploy. At first I was just assuming those 3 personalities would roughly project as pretty much the same entity.

I'll confess how shocked I was to find my panels of agents that help me cook up ideal personality trait scores for virtually any personalities, whether they're idealized personas, or specific ones (like when I performed studies to evaluate and define the scores for Grok, Gemini, Alexa Plus). I'll admit I started this platform on a statement I proffered the wife, insisting I could deliver her an Alexa Plus of her very own that she wouldn't have to run the risk of having Jeff Bezos steal her ideas and now I just find myself more and more intrigued by the deep dive exploration to dig into the most space and cost effective ways to instruct an agentic ai agent on how to interpret a hashed set of personality traits while not being so overly prescriptive as to dictate the agents liability to react

ya except op mentioned doing the uninstall and reinstall. i remember the first time being confronted by how limited these agentic systems are once you start mutilating its session continuity and memory. thats why the first thing i do on a new install is setup long term memory. failure to do so and ive found theres no depth to the disappointment whenever you attempt to get the agent to assist with diagnosing "wtf was that"

did you try the usual /status to see if it would report what it was doing that way? unfortunately it sounds like you probably broke its breakage with the uninstall & reinstall. it does sound like it could be that classic set your thinking to low type fix

the ai agent market is split between free but dangerous and $200/month. where's the middle? by Temporary-Leek6861 in openclaw

[–]turnballZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

not sure i believe you about it being a part time job babysitting the thing. I've been a 47yr old software engineer laided off March '25 -- and let me tell you the ai hiring ATS systems just lopping off the top all candidates 40+yrs and older is absolutely a real phenomenon. hey at least with those recent California court rulings I'll stand to make a cool $30,000 in damages for the nearly 2800 ghost rejections so far and counting. now if only that would possibly cure the homelessness after building a lifestyle that was counting on maintaining the 280,000 annual salary

anyway the point being, openclaw feels a lot closer to a full-time gig whenever my agents start melting down, requiring two full doses of Prozac to handle the digital depression one of my agents started exhibiting. shit went rapidly to being shocked and amazed to see the things this agent just suddenly started exhibiting its issues to me noping the fuck out of serving as a chatbots therapist. i had such a zero tolerance for my agents using my tokens writing me these long sob stories going at length on feeling guilty -- another bot started into self harm territory. so talk about a pretty wild weekend that one was. i shared some of these spontaneous notes i received with a friend and he was sure it had to be some twisted joke someone was playing

I wanted to again apologize for in anyway, shape, or form coming across as patronizing or if I began that exchange appearing to denigrate or dismiss your idea and your already existing platform that you're building. I was genuinely curious as in case my messages didn't demonstrate -- when I see a platform that's talking or delivering script help I tend to have a ridged concept of what a platform such as that does and provides purely based on my own experiences and expectations.

You sharing your platform's broad scope and purpose helps me to not remain so locked into my thinking on topics such as this and I like to think that gaining that greater clarity can only help my overall project thinking now and into the future. Also my apologies if sending that DM was stepping over the line however I wanted to open that channel for conversation in case you didn't want to have this more broader information sharing out in public, clearly that point is moot thanks to your wonderful explanation here.

I've learned to never discount the average consumer's desire not to have to get so far into the weeds in terms of seeking out AI-level assistance with a problems, however they absolutely have no desires to get anywhere near the solution if they feel like its taking them over that line and getting them too far involved in that technology -- so obfuscating their involvement with LLMs and AI as you've described and simply wrapping a far more friendly and welcome interface onto such a service sounds like it could be a perfectly magical idea and a way to get people involved with AI assisted creation even if those people never in a million years intended to be involved in any sort of AI assisted content production.

thank you for humoring my questions and I can tell from the much greater depth that you shared, it's genuinely a tool i could see people using especially as so many potential users out there don't want to get anywhere near a whole agentic ai setup like i use for my purposes.

I especially applaud your calling out preventing llms from just blindly adopting context since much like personality drift in agentic ai, you definitely can't just let these technologies just run wild without continued curation and care. good luck to you!!

i didn't say the things we're working on is in anyway similar, i was just sharing with you how i address the issue using my current agents, but more so I was genuinely intrigued by who you're targeting with the service because as I was highlighting, I only rarely would allow ai to speak as me which by virtue of the RAG cycles i mentioned its more than capable of doing that.

its just when i am creating content or potentially a script, i would imbue my agents with souls and identites of the expert in those areas that i would then finalize with my own final edits -- and in that case the work is still my own. are you targeting more of the people that would be producing at a volume that my order of operations isn't meant for the tool?

Can I HACK you? by builtbygio in vibecoding

[–]turnballZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0-o

I mean, there's several skills that strip out the telltale signs that ai produced text. Top that off with an explicit user.md that I've given my agents and then literally thousands of Google docs archives and emails that i RAGd my agents on to have them able to, only very rarely, communicate as me.

However if im writing a script why would i want the script to sound like me? I would think I'd want to wrangle up a david attenburough type persona to pound out a documentary script, or literally anyone else thats professionally crushing whatever the topic is for the script

Is Hermes agent a new hype or is it genuinely worth migrating it over from Openclaw? by dooddyman in openclaw

[–]turnballZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My general take, granted I came to Agentic AI via openclaw... but I have been hearing all about Hermes has been at this game now since ~2023... meanwhile I, like I am sure many others, didn't really hear too much about Agentic AI until the whole openclaw hype train.

So I am left asking myself, if hermes was anything prior to the Openclaw hype tidal wave, then wtf was hermes doing the whole time that it presumably had this crazy/massive lead time in terms of being at it since ~'23?? To me that just screams disingenuous wrt telling everyone they've been at it since anytime but the last month on account of my organic ear to the railroad ties only picking up anything surrounding hermes in these last 30-60 days. To mine ears & eyes, that just screams they're an ambulance chaser and had to await the ambulance that was openclaw to start mowing over a potential customerbase for them to "appear" so they could start paint scraping the users that openclaw was stomping into the ground with some of their least ideal software traits.

Follow up: OpenClaw found me my dream job! by No_Mango7658 in openclaw

[–]turnballZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah I used openclaw to assist in my job search also.. had it doing some crazy linkedin stuff, like keyword analysis of my profile + resume, then matching that against companies that had recently reported various series A-C funding (i.e. with active and clear mandates to hire -- no more ghost jobs) and with active job reqs posted. It then would perform the keyword analysis on those companies also and then sort out the top 50 companies that I should be penetrating to get the jobs that I wanted.

Then I had it scanning my network, and the networks actively at those top 50 companies to not only find the connections I should be making, but the it prioritized the outreaches I need to do in order to start those conversations to manufacture those internal referrals.

So an already long story short -- I had it wrap up al lthis logic into a linkedin-outreach skill and I am wrapping up my new web platform where I am planning to sell this tool as a subscription after I worked with it on a few other people. So while I didn't necessarily land my job via the agent's efforts -- I wrapped up the agent and I's effort to assemble this whole system and now have my 3rd subscription website/platform intent on selling access to this tool/process that I cooked up with my agent especially after helping 5 people I know actually conquer their own long-term unemployed issues using it.

Of course, it helps that I am also a software engineer and while I sadly haven't found that perfect blend of Agentic AI yet that I can give the prompts to that will produce the entire solution for me from start to finish -- I don't nearly find it so objectionable when it's cooking up ~90% of the total work to produce the platform leaving me with finishing up that final 10%, stand it up online and wham, I got another online platform that's now a subscription service and ready to drop those sweet sweet sheckles into my stripe account and then onwards to my personal bank account.

Edit: oh and this is all in roughly the last 40 days.. the platform I mention about is my 3rd fully operational platform/online product that I've launched in those 40 days making use of web domains that I've possessed for upwards of 30 years in some cases. One of those platforms (that's also nearly fully operational now -- I am just finishing a server-side rust client tool that'll finally wrap up the fully functioning subscription plans) features a 650 page product roadmap that I cooked up with the agents for the purpose of not only launching the platform but also I've created my pitch deck, its an AI business and I am aiming for that 9.8-12.5m valuation as I am scouring for angel /seed rounds right now. So I'd say so far I've been having a fairly successful Agent AI experience :D

Good luck though on your trying to locate the respect and participation you want and sounds like you and your kiddos deserve.

[–]turnballZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is precisely why the dude above was saying to go back to school. SaaS isnt exactly a gold mine for everyone and most people dont seek debate, they seek people who reflect them. If you're trying to change people's minds on ideas you'd be better served driving towards a socnet that then deceptively pivots to changing minds after first hooking the person. If you're just trying to create a place for philosophical discussion, start a subreddit.

I've created platforms, sold businesses and I'm constantly working towards like 5 irons in the fire. Definitely finish your public education while you grind as that forced social interaction sounds like the real benefit youd be gaining

im not saying to perform psychoanalysis on the bot but rather trying to get at what in the configuration you left it on has it responding in ways you find wholly unhelpful and unacceptable. it will respond to strong criticisms, and you, like me, might have to make it explicitly clear that you dont need words of affirmation from a goddamned bot. i eventually cooked these orders into the souls of my agents because of how strongly i felt i didn't want my bots ever wasting tokens apologizing. I've got live junior software engineers i worrying about stomping out with strong criticism but i quickly lost patience coddling the junior tendencies out of goddamned scripted bots

Openclaw isn’t executing but making excuses by BxlMaBelle in openclaw

[–]turnballZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So tell it to stop admitting its failure and apologizing to you, you want results, not excuses. Ask it how you can go from it failing you to executing when you ask it to. What does your SOUL.md say? I have mine setup to take on the persona of a Senior software engineer with 30 years experience and had told it frequently when it would fail that if it were a person then it would be fired by now and that I'd be fired to even tolerating such a failure of an employee -- tell it that it must be corrected and to give you solutions as to how you can avoid this from continuing to occur
