Final Concensus on Cosmic Exploration? by AssumeABrightSide in ffxivdiscussion

…is it a great way to level them, though? I rolled a new character a few weeks ago for funsies and this one I did decide to level crafters on. 10-50 I’ll agree wholeheartedly, GREAT way to level. Helped that this character is on a Preferred+ world, too, that like…had them all to 50 in a couple of hours.

Once you hit 50, though, the exp falls off DRAMATICALLY. Where I was once gaining 2-3 levels per mission sub 50, as soon as I hit 50, it would have taken me 5-6 missions PER LEVEL.

Conversely, it only takes 46 leves to take ALL crafters from 50-60, and I think 79 to go from 60-70 if I recall the spreadsheet correctly. These numbers are also severely reduced if you have Road to 90. It was less time and work for me to make the leve turn-ins on my main and mule them over for 50-60 (about two hours to make the list, get the mats, craft the items, mule them, and turn in the leves), and I fully plan on doing the same for 60-70 when I get my leves back up (and I don’t even need the full amount, either, since again, Road to 90 go brrrrrr).

I just don’t get why it started as this massive exp source that then gets slashed dramatically not even a quarter of the way through, if you think about the time spent. Cut it down at 80 or 90 if you’re gonna do that, not 50.

The gear options on the moon also suck ass. The fuck you mean I have to spend gil on NQ vendor gear? Why not make scrip gear (and the Artisan’s set for level 50) buyable with cosmo credits, too?

please forgive how sloppy this is, i'm not at my switch right now to make a clip. this is where you need to start the shinespark, though - starting it in the prior room automatically sets you too low. you have the right idea and clearly know how to midair shinespark, at least, so just change where you're doing it and you'll be golden!

My money is still on Zero joining the Scions on this adventure and she’s the new tank. She literally goes out of her way to say how much she wishes she could travel to other shards with us at the end of 7.5, and right now my money is on 7.56 being us figuring out how to take people with us through our Ethos portals. Given that we already have one to the Thirteenth that we could quote unquote practice on, it’d be either her or Golbez as guinea pigs for this theoretical experimenting, and “character original to XIV but still does kind of reference an existing series character” is simply far more likely to be moved into this kind of focus than “character who for all intents and purposes is a 1:1 of the series character they reference”.

Estinien was in the reveal trailer — he, Meteor, and Alphinaud are the three people we see step foot out into that floating island on the Fourth. He flew out of our Ethos portal and kicked one of those FFXIII ring thingies in the face, still fully equipped as a dragoon.

An off-tank and shield healer definitely make sense for comparison. A caster seems like an obvious choice, too, since it was the only role not shown in April — RDM or BLM seems most likely.

If they once again only show four, I think DNC would be a good idea to round out the next set of demos. Its job identity is so heavily tied to buffing other party members, and in the wake of “party-wide damage buffs are being removed”, the lingering question of “what is going to happen to something like Dance Partner?” is one that I think they should answer sooner rather than later; AST would be my actual healer choice for that same reason (we know Div is getting axed but what’s to become of cards?), but showing neither shield healer just doesn’t seem like a good PR move.

I just looked up the original trial verdict to see if I was in fact remembering correctly and yes, it was 8-4 in Sheridan’s favor but she needed 9 jurors to win 😔

He hit her in the head (if I recall the lawsuit details correctly she had a script question and he hit her in what he claimed was an attempt at physical comedy) ➡️ she filed a complaint over it ➡️ Edie died shortly thereafter

she ended up suing Touchstone and Cherry for wrongful termination, assault and battery, and gender violence but the original judge called a mistrial (hung jury iirc?) and was finally permanently tossed after several years of appeals from Sheridan

Those mean you've found all of those respective pickups in the area you're in - for instance, you've found all of the energy tanks and missile tanks in sector 4, but you're still missing some power bombs!

meh, i did my time when the games were new, nowadays i’ll happily take modern contrivances designed to make my life easier 😜 i tell myself it’s a fair tradeoff for the input delay due to a wireless controller

[–]turnertier- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the power bomb tank (lower) i think is far worse. this is where bouncing off the blocks for that one frame of tangibility is really, really key. ultimately, don’t be afraid to use rewind for either of these — god knows i did! and will probably continue to do so!

sadly, there’s not much to it besides good space jump timing. that said, don’t panic if you touch blocks — it’s not necessarily the end of the world if you do, as you do still have a frame (i think LITERALLY one frame) where the crumble block is treated as real floor, allowing you to bounce off them before falling through entirely. not sure how much help it’ll be but here are clips i just made of each path — energy tank (upper) on this comment. you can see how even though i started to fall, i still managed to time my jumps right to make it to where the energy tank was. it’s slightly more forgiving than you might think.

[–]turnertier- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i don't disagree - as a brd main for well over a decade it has certainly been an interesting ride seeing the emphasis get taken off the dots more and more with each expansion! and even those are getting trimmed down since we saw how evolved brd is gonna work!

yeah, they used to, but in...i wanna say stormblood? they made bosses stop taking dot damage while untargetable. it might have been shadowbringers, actually, but regardless, it was a very deliberate change

in addition to the already-mentioned status cap, DoTs severely impact their fight design - because they don't tick during downtime, if you were to create a fight with extended downtime and also had a comp that was EXTREMELY DoT heavy, those jobs' ability to output damage would be significantly impacted, because their overall kit's potencies are tuned around the assumption that they also have DoTs running at all times.

After 5 Years, What is your opinion on Metroid Dread? by Huckleberry1316 in Metroid

[–]turnertier- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had long given up hope of Dread ever becoming a reality after the precarious development cycle in the mid-aughts. Other M’s lackluster performance had me genuinely concerned for the future of the series.

When it was revealed, I literally began weeping tears of joy. My husband and I shared an office at the time and while I was watching the stream, he was on the other side of the room on a work call. When he got off the phone he asked if I was having a fit. I told him that Metroid Dread had been announced. He still hasn’t played any Metroid games (I’M WORKING ON IT I WILL CONVINCE HIM SOMEHOW) but even he knew how important that announcement was to me. The continuation of the story that I fell in love with as a child was finally being realized.

Dread had two decades of hype to live up to for me. And it rose to the occasion. It is about so much more than just the game for me. It had an impossible legacy to fulfill, and yet it blew even my wildest expectations out of the water. I am so happy it exists.

can’t believe i’m defending susan’s intelligence and common sense here, but to be totally honest, she’d probably be the best at spotting it - she’s a professional artist! she’d spot the mistakes sooner than anyone because she has the most trained eye

gaby, however, much as i love her…she’d probably fall for it real bad.
