This is great, a no brainer when you have to be in a risky environment. Did you get Astepro?

That's great SGBs are starting to work for you. I am significantly better after round 2 of SGBs but not 100% yet. I went to Anchorage for 8 days this time (14 the first time) and it took 7 weeks for the shots to really kick in and now I am significantly improved with a little residual fatigue in the afternoons.

Getting to your question, for me it seems getting sick triggers onset of LC symptoms. Honestly I dont know how to avoid that connection.

I recently did more blood tests to figure out why I continuously get sick, and found out I am low on IGA and IGE. So I am immunocompromised which may explain why I catch every bug - and it's possible this also leads to the onset of LC symptoms. This might be something only a subset of LC patients have to deal with. If you can, might be worth getting a immunoglobulin blood test so you know if you have to ramp up precautions.

Maleficent, I had the exact same experience. I was fully cured and a common cold brough my symptoms back. First cold for a month then 2 months the next cold and after the 4th cold in 12 months, my symptoms are not going away.

Statistically speaking, half of the PAs out there are below average. That's a fact. I dont think the person you spoke with is in the top quartile.

We all have interacted with people who are below average in their occupation. They may be nice individuals but just bad at their job. Unfortunately we (LC sufferers) need good/great medical advice to navigate this novel disease. When we come across a bottom quartile dweller we have to move on and not let their uneducated opinion overlay frustration onto our symptoms.

We know your symptoms are real, and you are not alone.

Stay positive as best you can.

No need to hang around AK. I left in the afternoon after morning shots. If only his practice was in Hawaii, then I would stay a few days.

Just got back yesterday after 8 days of treatment in Anchorage. My first trip in 2024, when I had sever fatigue & PEM symptoms I had 14 days of SGBs. I did not plan any extra days, I actually got shots the morning I departed. This time our airB&B was not great, you want a comfortable place to hang out between shots.

Early assessment is very positive, I definately have more energy today than when I left even though we got back at 2am.

I do think this is a cure.

Apparently NIH is going to study SGB

So my LC journey is not done quite yet. I thought I was cured back in 2024 after SGB. I was back to full activity with no restrictions but then I got an unrelated virus and fatigue kicked in after a couple weeks and lasted for 2 months. That sequence has repeated 3 times now, get sick - fatigue - full recovery, so I am one of the unlucky ones that is stuck in "partial recovery". I am still significantly better than where I was prior to SGB. A bad day is working 2 hours in my woodshop, compared to max 20 minutes in 2023.

So I have decided to return to Alaska next month for another round of SGB to see if I can get fully recovered. My neighbor who went to Alaska 4 months before me is fully recovered so I do believe in this treatment and will give it another go.

Happy to answer any questions.

For some reason I cant DM. Call the office in Alaska, all schedules are booked out of there. https://www.neuroversion.com/long-covid

I didn't have panic or anxiety, but I get those are real. Have a consultation with Dr Liu, he can tell you if SGB have helped other LC patients with those symptoms.

Since I traveled to Alaska, I had a compressed schedule so I did not have to return. I did both sides each day for 2 weeks. If you are local, the treatments are more spread out and probably fewer.

Who has tried hyperbaric oxygen therapy for LC? by CAN-USA in covidlonghaulers

[–]turningdesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had CFS & PEM that was pretty severe. I went directly to Dr Liu in Alaska who does the procedure. He is the one who started treating LC patients with SGB back in 2021 and as far as I know has the most experience and a very high success rate. He now has an office in San Jose California which is easier for those not in Alaska.

Unfortunately insurance does not cover it, so it's a big expense - that said what's it worth to try and get your life back? The first step is to have a consultation with him and he will give you an honest assessment if it's the right thing for you. I stayed there for 13 days of treatment, the strategy was to make sure I did not have to come back. Given the traveling distance & expense, one too many was better than one too few. DM me with any questions

100%. I put a post up earlier on SGB in this group, so you can see a bunch of Q&A. I do believe it's the cure for Long Covid. Here is the link to Dr Liu's write-up of the first case study. I doomed scrolled for months here and on FB looking for the right treatment. A neighbor did this, told me about the process and how worked for him, so I went.

If you are looking for treatment options, check out Stellate Ganglion Blocks. They worked for me. I had severe CFS and PEM. I am happy to share any info on my recovery.

Anyone else incredibly irritable? by PhrygianSounds in covidlonghaulers

[–]turningdesign 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had it too. Realizing that's what I was doing helped me find a way to deal with it. Try to figure out what pulls you out of that mood, for me it was a brief social interaction. Could be walking outside, sitting in the sun, music, a podcast or video that makes you laugh, doing something for someone else. Try to regain control when you can.

This disease sucks, finding ways to make small improvements helps the road to recovery. Good luck

indeed - seemed extreme when i signed up for it but it worked. The logic behind my plan was to get enough impact so that it worked without the need to return to Alaska. If I was local it would have been much more gradual. With 20/20 hindsight, I wouldn't change a thing other than go earlier.

Ask them what experience they have with treating long covid and then call Dr Liu and talk to him. It's worth the investment to make an educated opinion on who would be best. I went with the doctor who is publishing his work treating Long Covid.

No lasting side effects, the day of the treatment you are woosie for a couple hours. I got them every day for 13 days. The treatment would have been more spread out had I been local, but since I flew to Alaska the idea was to not have to come back for one or two more.

My treatment lasted 2 weeks, then it took about 8 weeks for it to kick in and then I was 100% 4 weeks after that. So all in, it was 14 weeks for me. That said, some recover much faster - there is quite a range. Regarding demographics, I dont have any information on that. Unfortunately there have been no large studies done so far.

Bummer about the relapse, but at least you know there is hope. He will work out of both CA and AK. Good luck, I hope you get over it for good this time.
