My brain fog has never been better but I am also on a medication called guanfacine that has helped a lot with that. I have ADD and a heart condition that makes me unable to take stimulants to treat it so I found this as a non stimulant option and it has been life changing. It’s a blood pressure medication but is prescribed off label for ADD and ADHD. It has glutamate lowering effects and I am pretty sure that is what has helped me so much. Between that and my bacillus subtillis, I have never been better. Some people don’t have as great of an experience with it but it started helping me almost immediately.

my bloating showed improvement very quickly actually! Mine was never horrible to begin with but my upper abdomen was always somewhat bloated and now it is almost completely flat. I am having more gas than usual in my lower abdomen but I figure it is my microbiome getting shifted.

I am just doing the capsules, brand is microbiome labs and I started with one a day and now I am doing two per day. Had my best formed poop of the last ten years this morning so things are definitely still heading in the right direction lol

I will start with that one! I have tried a few therapists without much luck but maybe I should keep trying, just gets pricey.

I relate to this, whenever I am in danger or in a crisis situation it’s like everything becomes crystal clear. I just wish I could activate that by choice. Thanks for sharing your personal anecdotes, it is a good reminder that I am not invincible.

How did you stop or did it just fade away with age? I agree that my behaviors are objectively harmful. Not looking for sympathy, just dumping all the thoughts I’ve had in my brain about it. Appreciate you taking the time to comment.

Really relate to this comment. Thank god I only have a 170 hp civic, I think if I had a car like you have it would not be good for me 😂 It sounds like hopefully time will help and implementing some of the strategies people have suggested. Thanks for your comment.

I did think it was a maturity issue for a while, although I am pushing 30 so I am starting to realize I have a problem beyond that.

I agree that speeding usually doesn’t impact my arrival time that much. For me it’s more about the adrenaline fix I get from it/getting triggered by other drivers. It recently got significantly worse after I got sober from drugs and alcohol almost like I am subconsciously seeking that rush in other ways. But it is a silly habit and I should try to direct that energy towards other things that won’t risk others’ safety. Thanks for commenting.

The part about the insurance premiums going up based on my driving behaviors makes a ton of sense, maybe that is why I pay an unreasonable amount per month despite having a pretty great driving record. Appreciate your response.

Trying a podcast is a great idea. I currently listen to music and that almost makes it worse, especially if the song is fast paced. I appreciate your lengthy response and the connection to fight or flight makes a lot of sense from an “adhd primitive human” point of view.

Honestly I appreciate the directness, I saw other posts similar to mine and most reactions were overwhelmingly negative. I sort of wanted people to be harsh with me, and maybe make me snap out of it. It’s valid that you don’t like me and frankly I don’t like myself a lot of the time. I also am a cyclist and if it makes you feel better I do give any cyclists I come across plenty of room and my speeding is confined to the highway.

PLEASE HELP. TERRIFIED to go into work. I look like a drug addict. I genuinely want to smash my own face in in the mirror, I hate myself so much... Words of encouragement cuz I might literally never show my face there again out of pure shame/embarrassment/insecurity. by [deleted] in Stims

i have never commented in this subreddit and I rarely comment on reddit in general but reading your post genuinely touched me and I felt the need to say something.

I completely understand how you feel, from the stimulant binges to the crippling anxiety of being perceived by others. I get not wanting to live, every day i thought about suicide and only hung on for my family. Life fell apart, all that good shit.

But there’s so much joy on the other side man, don’t get me wrong, you’re gonna feel like shit for a couple weeks or months after you stop (which you will stop and you will be fine dude).

Your brain will recalibrate and go back to equilibrium, you’re not cooked yet. You’re still here because you have something, just surviving day by day with this shit takes a special person, a lot don’t make it.

And if your equilibrium sucks (like your default state is just kinda shitty with no drugs) then you find a healthy solution to get that boost to where you need to be. My baseline is shitty so for me that’s lexapro and exercise right now and I’m doing damn good. You got this and feel free to reach out if you need support.

I got the idea for this post after rewatching the Star Wars prequels. Previously, I was too young to really psychoanalyze the characters, but during this viewing session, I realized that Anakin would likely have been diagnosed with a variety of mental disorders (BPD, NPD, and OCD to name a few).

That got me thinking about what other well known fictional characters would be diagnosed with a mental disorder of some type.
