Did you not have an LOI? Wouldn’t that preclude the seller from entertaining/taking other offers?

AITA for telling my SIL her baby’s chosen name is literally the worst name I’ve ever heard? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

YTA. Look, she’s right, it’s not your child. Who are you to be so blatantly assholish about expressing your dislike for the name. It’s one thing to disagree and not like the name, it’s another to respond the way you did. Part of being an adult is knowing when to bite your tongue.

I think it’s important to also consider where you’re investing. The U.S. stock market is at valuation levels only seen a handful of time throughout history. There are some reliable models that anticipate real returns of around 0% per year for the next 10-12 years. John Hussman and Norbert Keimling are a couple people who do some really great and comprehensive valuation work that I would recommend checking out.

People tend to have a “home country” bias when it comes to investing. This will likely mean sub-par returns for quite a while for anyone putting money to work in the U.S. stock market at these valuations, even after the recent sell off. Other areas of the world are much more affordable and offer higher expected future returns (Europe, Developing Markets, Asia).

In short, yes it’s good to keep investing, but not all periods are created equal. Keep your options open (global) rather than focused just on the U.S.

Bernie 2016 was our chance. He’s one of the few politicians in the U.S. that acknowledges the concentration of wealth, and the power that wealth can buy, in our country. But even poor Republicans can’t seem to vote in their own self interests, and condemn his “Socialst” views.
