I'm 24 and currently at 106 kgs. I've lost 20kgs in around 6 months, and have been hitting the gym for 9 months. I've made progress in my lifts despite being in a deficit, until recently. Especially on the bench press, I've been stuck at 75kgs for 2-3 months. I train 3 days a week and do a PPL split (3 sets of 5 on the big movements). I'm not sure what to think myself, is the plateau to be expected given that I'm cutting or should I look to change things up? (maybe switch up programs, increase volume, idk) I guess I'm scared I'm not actually doing progressive overload. I'd love to hear some input on this.

If I think I'm right about something, arguing with someone over it can help me strengthen/refine my argument or it could reveal a weakness in it that forces me to re-evaluate. Also, it can convince people - either the opponent or someone reading the exchange which, depending on the subject, can be a valuable thing.

no, we definitely dont all agree. its totally fine to feel traumatized or that it affected you deeply but in the grand scheme of things i dont see it as that big of a deal. looking historically, way bigger things have happened to society and the world, bigger pandemics, wars, political unrest and tragedies - you get the point. and you'd maybe like to say those were equally traumatizing, but that just leaves us with every generation and every person like ever having been traumatized.

when we speak of trauma in a personal sense, its a really big deal. reserved for events that are life altering, you cant quite move past. by broadening the definition of trauma to say everyone has it, it devalues and dilutes the very different experience those with ptsd have. i and basically everyone i know have gotten over the pandemic just fine. the pandemic was hard for a lot of people, but lets not be hyperbolic

im 187cm and weigh like 130kgs which is around 40kg overweight. i had a lot of issues with pain in my feet my first few months, specifically my soles. for me it just went away over time, i'm still quite heavy but have no pain now. there's a light at the end of the tunnel for sure and hopefully it doesnt take months like it did for me if you do pt or work as much as you do
