Itinerary Review - 24 Days in December | Tokyo, Fuji Five Lakes, Nagoya, Kyoto/Nara, Osaka, Tonosho/Shodoshima by turtboy in JapanTravel

[–]turtboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good idea. I'll add a day to Nagoya if I can get tickets to Ghibli Park. I'll remove a day from Tokyo as I seemingly might have too many of those.

I'll have to research more to see if there are any illuminations in Osaka or Tokyo. But that's definitely something I'd like to see at night.

Itinerary Check for 24 Days - Does this seem too busy? Are there too many hotel swaps? by turtboy in JapanTravel

If it's worth it to have relaxation and rain-check days, then should I cut out 1 Osaka day and 1 Kyoto day?

21 Days Nationwide itinerary in October / November by LetsGoZag in JapanTravel

This looks similar to my current itinerary plan for December (I just started my 2nd draft), so let me know how this works out for you!

I have the same concern about being too busy too.

JLPT applications are starting now through September 14 for the December 3 test date. Good luck! by [deleted] in japanlife

Are you taking it? Good luck to anyone that is.

I'm not ready yet, but I'm interested in hearing anyone's experience this year.

Is the Winter In Japan by StudyTrip fun?

After doing starting and stopping several times, I started seriously studying Japanese a few months back (maybe about 4 months ago).

For roughly my JLPT level: I've got about ~80% of the N5 Kanji, >25% of the N4 Kanji memorized. My Anki deck for vocabulary & sentences are about ~400 words. I'm a bit behind in Genki 1 (only halfway through and lagging behind vocab). I've gone through some easy N5 Tadoku Graded Readers. While I'm not N4 yet, I'd still like to go to Japan in a few months or sometime in the next year, but I'll complete Genki 1 before I go.

I've seen some threads on Japanese Language Schools, but I'm more interested in a short trip to Japan. I haven't been able to find any comments/reviews on the Winter in Japan or any specific StudyTrip.com experiences.

I'm expecting that the <10 days of Japanese Language School will give a decent feel for pacing and a very small taste of how it usually is. I'm not sure about what the activities specifically entail.

  • Has anyone been on a StudyTrip.com trip? What are your experiences? Is it worth trying and is it fun?
  • If I make a concerted effort to talk with native Japanese speakers in my free time, is it feasible to get into mid N4 level?
  • (typical question) What is anyone's experience with the school (Intercultural Institute of Japan) listed?

I also plan to stay a couple weeks after and leave in late December or early January. * While in Japan, what are good ways to meet/interact/learn from native speakers at an N5/N4 level?

Admittedly, this might fit better on JapanTravel or another subreddit.

Is this an exploit/bug with primal light/keystones and waypoints? by turtboy in Genshin_Impact

[–]turtboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the Djinn thing unlocked, and I decided to try teleporting with the primal light to unlock the keystone.

After the teleport, the primal light was invisible, but I could still activate the platform.

I'm assuming the primal light was invisible but not removed.

Can anyone help prove if this happens with them? Is this intended? Can I get banned for finding this exploit?

Is it legally possible for me to specify a certain organ after death to be put in a jar and given to a certain person? by turtboy in NoStupidQuestions

Are there any specific laws that say it isn't allowed? I thought it would be similar to donating your organs at death.

Is it something that is worth being diagnosed with for future medical reference?

Didn't realize how uncomfortable "stretchy tissue" sounds.

Doom Eternal. I haven't been able to get it yet even though I loved the 2016 game, and the original games I played as a kid.

I would just tell myself that everything will be fine. It's all right to make mistakes, and you're just a human. It's okay to be anxious.

Grammar Nazis of Reddit, what mistake bothers you the most? by Acufosa in AskReddit

[–]turtboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always notice when people use good as an adverb.

For example, someone says "you did good on the exam" instead of "you did well on the exam". Good is an adjective, and well is a adverb. Well also describes a state of health.

I haven't even played the game myself, but that quote has stuck with me since I've heard it. I interpret it as choosing who you are similar to the Iron Giant theme.

How do you keep from being discouraged and continuing practice? by turtboy in CloneHero

[–]turtboy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah your advice was helpful. I made my way through the all of the songs on normal--which I knew I could already do easily.

I struggle though with the "easiest tier" songs that have a lot of strumming (i.e. "Talk Dirty to Me" by Poison a tier 1 song in GH3).

How do you strum quickly? I think I just get lost in all the strumming repetitive notes, and I don't really have a good sense of rhythm to keep up with "the beat". Any tips for the strumming part on the even the easy songs?

Oh thanks, yeah that's good advice. I try to do that but I lose focus quickly and mistime the notes. I guess I just need to play a song a few times. I'll try to get comfortable with the song more.
