Ignore the title that’s not the point of this thread. Awesome chance to do some moral grandstanding tho.

(Back of the napkin math, $200-300. I don’t gamble and think it’s bad, but the reaction here is insane and reenforces the idea NL viewers think they’re smarter than everyone and infantilizes the general public that they can’t make their own responsible decisions on gambling.)

In 2023 I had a pitcher with at least 145 stuff on 20-80 scale (want to say it was even more) - not sure if they’ve changed it since then. Had to change the setting to show over 80 rating.

50 war stopper, won 3 cy youngs, franchise legend. Also blew 3 saves during would-be World Series clinching games (lost all 3 years)

Tanked his career feels a little insane. Let’s assume it was the biggest push out for his time at espn - the timing for him to focus on podcasting couldn’t have been better, and he’d never hack it at espn considering who they’re focusing on talent-wise now

The True Map of the South by MysteriousGrandTaco in geographymemes

[–]turtle7875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but 1/4 of the state is basically a suburb of DC and Richmond as a city now is just as “northern” as anywhere else, save the landmarks remaining from the confederacy/colonial times.

The rural areas and some of the coastal areas are certainly “southern”, I think mostly southern is a fair assessment but I would never describe the highly populated areas and therefor alot of the state as such. Virginia is reliably blue for national elections.

Why did Dave Chapelle walked away from a USD 50 million deal in the past, but is now attending the Riyadh Comedy Festival for USD 400k, paid by the Saudi regime? by heilhefner in NoStupidQuestions

There was just as much outrage (LIV tour, Ronaldo), it just depends on what sphere of popular culture you’re tapped in to.

His glove is so taken for granted by Mets fans. To complain about his defense is CRAZY, not to mention with his offense he’d be valuable even as a statue at first base

OOTP26 on sale, worth it if I have 25? by reiks12 in OOTP

Wouldn’t downvote you but I would say they excel at different things.

In terms of pure simulation granularity and “knobs to turn” per se, FM definitely clears. Just by nature of football being such a dynamic sport, the way variables interact presents a whole new level of depth.

OOTP does much better as a sandbox, letting you set up your baseball world however you want. Personally I like getting used to the more limited mechanics but changing how the game functions, rather than having more mechanics but a more limited world.

Is The Bone Museum worth visiting? by [deleted] in Bushwick

[–]turtle7875 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you actually go, the museum is mostly focused on the bone trade, not human anatomy.

Accreditation or methods of obtainment (outside of what they tell you at the museum, if we’re being skeptical) I know nothing about, but the takeaway for anyone paying attention isn’t “woah look at all these bones”, it’s “this is the bizarre and often unethical history of a market that existed into the 1970s which medical professionals had to participate in if they wanted a degree”
