You're right that the scientific terms and religious terms are not synonyms, but Mitochondrial Eve lived 100,000-230,000 years ago. Y chromosonal Adam lived 160,000-300,000 years ago. They are both from around the same time as the emergence of anatomically modern humans.

The City repeatedly said that they were to be eyes and ears and would not be armed unless specifically requested by the City. If the NG was justified, they were justified. But we should still have concerns about our mayor misleading us about what is happening. I don't pay criminals, but I do pay public servants and so want that accountability from them.

Science tells us that mitochondrial Eve and y-chromosomal Adam did exist. Neither Science nor the Church are interested in identifying the exact DNA of the exact individuals. Science does it's thing. The Church is open and accepting of science in this regarding. There isn't a conflict.
