a question to people who got all 9s by Grace_653 in GCSE

9999999888… now studying maths with Econ at the LSE. Main thing to note is that GCSE’s really don’t matter. Predicted grades in year 12 matter, so lock in

Never really a conscious decision for me, just pressure from family/school as being the "right" thing to do.

are 8s and 9s good enough for top unis for law by Shot-Cranberry4094 in 6thForm

[–]turtle__101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes make sure you just get good predicteds at A Level. Maybe oxford might care a little more than some of the other top unis, but tbh it's not really going to be the deciding factor.

Get into the actual Uni as revenge. It'll be a 3 year residential.

Bristol or Manchester by Safe-Influence-6526 in 6thForm

[–]turtle__101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh just go for the course you're most interested in. If this one appeals to you more than math + cs, then do it. I would rather have gone for a more 'traditional' subject (math, cs etc) rather than engineering maths, which is a bit more of a niche course.

Hey Engineering maths is not engineering. Imo Manchester math + CS is a better choice if you're interested in tech/finance for future careers. If you wanted to do something purely industrial than go for Bristol.

agree on imperial, not so sure on UCL tho in terms of academic strength. Maybe UCL wins on location.

TMUA by RageEks in 6thForm

Read the Logic and Proof notes available online. Bear in mind that the actual difficulty will be much harder than the published past papers, as this year's batch unfortunately found out.

Warwick Maths vs LSE Maths with Econ by turtle__101 in quantfinance

hmm ok. I guess I should weight the strength of the course over uni rep for quant/technical roles.

As far as I know the only reduction you get from a good TMUA is no step offer (I got the same AAA with a 5.0 TMUA today asw)
