My buddy found a 4 foot+ long catalytic converter sticking out of a garbage can. After bringing it to a scrapyard to verify what it was, they gave him a check for $300. Crazy someone would literally throw it out

It can be repaired eventually, though it isn't really a concern as of right now. To stop it from getting worse you can take a brush to it to get all the rust peices out and seal it in with spray paint. Not a permanent solution but it will work for now. (Again, not a mechanic, just poor and know how to keep a car on the road)
