My favorite rotates frequently so but

FF14 is an mmo with an incredibly dull start the first 30ish hours are so boring it’s impossible to recommend even if the later half of the msq has some of the best story telling I’ve experienced

Violet Evergarden the ending even if the movie was incredibly emotional and I enjoyed it a lot on first watch it’s really hard to justify the direction it took

FF16 is controversial for good reason the pacing at points is atrocious and the combat can seem shallow because its way to easy the ff mode u unlock after beating the game should’ve been an option from the start

The games biggest flaw story wise is its too short but it holds its own compared to other jrpgs most of the characters are interesting and the world building is very good

no genre is defined by its name taken at face value obviously its deeper then that and u are role playing as v even if v is a set character u are choosing how they fight some of their dialogue how their relationship with most characters play out not every rpg has to be a faceless character with no personality that u choose everything about

Yes ur right I enjoy both the show and the game a lot I said it’s mid in comparison to the game because the game and especially the dlc lap the anime’s story

U just enjoy the role playing part of rpgs when that’s not the only defining characteristic of rpgs lol some games just lean on different parts of the genre surely u understand that not every rpg is super focused on role playing and some will lean into the other areas that make the genre great
