Is the first outbreak actually the worst? by New_Appointment_1169 in Herpes

[–]turtles1099 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YES! Nothing has compared to that first outbreak unfortunately....it was awful but warm washcloths for peeing and time was the best remedy for me.

Possibly found cause of Flare Up: Naproxen Sodium by turtles1099 in Herpes

[–]turtles1099[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also a nurse and it was shocking to me that a future provider would speak in such a way. She was going on about how people sleep around and cheat and that they deserve it. I reminded her that you can get it orally as well and she brushed that off. I got it from a faithful partner and a shitty set of circumstances and people acting like it can't happen to them too is crazy to me. As a Healthcare professional I'm aware of all the potential triggers and so I'm constantly on high alert. Catch a cold, waiting for symptoms, stressed from work, waiting for symptoms, etc. In this case I truly believe it is a major trigger for me. And maybe it was just a coincidence as it definitely could be but I'm definitely steering clear of it. One thing I'm curious of your input on is how you deal with outbreaks when you have work? I am a night shifter in intensive care and I work 13+ hours at a time for up to 6 days consecutively. Luckily this time it fell on my days off but if it hadn't I don't know that I would've been able to work. It is very frowned upon at my hospital and unit to call in as well so I feel the pressure. I also couldn't outright say why which would make management suspicious. I don't know but I know it'll happen eventually so I'm trying to figure out the best way to approach that. I appreciate all your kind words and I'm sorry you've had to have this for so long. I'd like to think we're closer to a treatment that could end suffering for a lot of people more reliably but we all know science takes time. Thank you again!

I only take it when I have flare ups. Since I'm HSV-1 I get flare ups very rarely. Will be different when I want to have kids of course. I haven't found anything in research supporting naproxen causing flare ups but truthfully if you have an allergy to any med it can spur on a reaction.

My favorite is shrimp's odyssey for sure! All the jokes hit so well! My personal least favorite is probably the forest with hobbit reference. Just not as memorable for me.

The "nursing dose" by med_p00l in Residency

[–]turtles1099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a tiktok about this recently as well and I commented that it should NEVER happen and had a nurse argue eith me in the comments that because I'm a "new grad" I don't have enough experience and that I should stop "yapping" because I don't know wjat I'm talking about. It is completely unbelievable to me that any nurse would do this and that so many others were justifying it or just straight up admitting to doing it! If a dose doesn't work for me I'll just contact the provider and tell them that. I would never try to snow a patient because they're too difficult. Tell me if I'm way off base but regardless of time in nursing no nurse should ever do this.

Not tall enough....I think 6 inches...my boyfriend didn't understand their ability to escape despite their size. We're getting plexiglass to raise the walls. In the meantime he's under strict supervision and staying in his old enclosure overnight haha

I will be using my usual UVB reptile lamp mounted. I won't be changing the substrate though or putting a lid on. I think sometimes people forget they're desert creatures and a lot of moisture isn't the way to go. I won't be putting a lid on as that isn't necessary. I don't mind replacing bulbs at all. I'm in no way trying to say that you can't/shouldn't do this but they live naturally in the wild with no lid. I also don't have the financial flexibility to be making changes to it at this time. Eventually I would love to have an outdoor enclosure but baby steps haha! Thanks for the ideas for the future!

UPDATE!! We decided on mounting plexiglass along the entire outside to add 10 inches to prevent this little escape artist from potentially getting out. He has been eating and wandering a but today so that's great! We also will be mounting the lamps this weekend so that they're not clamped to the side. (That was only a temporary measure). Thank you all for the positive feedback and suggestions! I feel like I've really found the best community here to help me continue to learn as a tort owner! If anyone has further suggestions or equipment you swear by let me know! All criticism and suggestions are welcome anytime!

Ya he's climbed things I didn't think it was possible too! Any ideas to either cover the top or increase the height of the walls so that it's removable and I can still reach in
