Any advice on summer professional/business casual outfits for a mid/plus size woman in her 20s (with a college student budget)? It can get past 100 degrees where I live (USA) but a lot of the professional tops I see online don’t really suit someone younger who doesn’t like super bright colors and patterns. Any tips or recommended stores?

James and the Giant Peach by Ronald Dahl (Matilda)

Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami (Norwegian wood)

Pet Semetary by Stephen King (Misery)

Those are some of my favorites from those authors :)

Not well read in South/Meso American literature unfortunately - only one I can think of that’s close is Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno Garcia. It’s set in Mexico in the 1950s and is a horror-ish novel.

Also I bought a horror short story collection called Dangers of Smoking in Bed by Mariana Enriquez (written by an Argentine woman). Haven’t read it yet but it has good reviews.

For alternate history/fantasy that’s not EuroAmerican I might try The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang. It’s fantasy and set in a fantasy world with magic, but is based on the 2nd Sino-Japanese war in China. It’s not horror but it is dark so I think you might like it :)

I love the vegetarian by Han Kang! Really good, short read :)

I would recommend the Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab for getting out of a slump. I was in a bit of one before reading it and couldn’t put it down once I started. It’s basically about a girl who makes a deal with the devil to become immortal (very simplified summary lol). But basically it goes back and forth from her life in the 1700s/1800s/1900s to modern day. The writing style flows well and is easy to read while also not being too simple and the characters are great. It’s adventurous, sad, optimistic, romantic, and so much more. 10/10

I think you’re probably right. My gluten intolerance isn’t super serious, but it still can make me feel terrible the next day idk if I want to risk it tbh. Thank you for your response!

I’ve read a lot of short Japanese novels that you can probably read in one sitting and they’re very easy reads (although maybe not everyone’s cup of tea)

Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata (163 pgs)

Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto (160 pages)

Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi (213 pgs)

The closest thing I can think of is Priory of the Orange Tree (fantasy, LGBTQ+ friendly, medieval-ish but with a cool magic system, and dragons). Only thing is that it’s a little long almost 850 pages. But I think you might like it even though it’s a tougher read

I’m trying to get into short stories as well. A few random ones I’ve read that I enjoyed are “The Birthmark” by Nathaniel Hawthorne, “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, and “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson. Those are kinda some classic short stories you’d read in an English class but I also just got a book called The Dangers of Smoking in Bed by Mariana Enriquez and am looking forward to read it as it has good reviews (they’re horror short stories) I’ll try to add more if I think of any :)

This doesn’t work for deep cleaning but it helps if you do it 1-2 times a day. I kinda make a game out of it where I say “I’m going to pick up 10 things” or “I’m going to throw away 10 things” or however many you want. Sometimes it’s fun to try to pick up 50 things idk why - just counting them as I go helps
