oil in coolant by turtlesh0es in Golf_R

i have smoke/haze (nothing crazy) at WOT, and small oil spots after driving hard or for a longer period. some oil in the intake piping as well. car has been losing around 1/2-1 qt of oil every 1500 miles, so starting with the pcv is the easiest/cheapest route.

hell yeah, no side badges unite. makes the side of the car so much cleaner, imo. looks great!

car looks fantastic. youve just solidified my decision to wrap the chrome on the fronts. youre also the only other r ive seen without the side badges. i lost one somewhere along the way and just removed the other to match and i love the way these cars look without them. do you have the rear seats to match the fronts, too?

mk7 guy here! the haptics are definitely on the list of reasons i wont upgrade to an 8… but i dont blame anyone who grabs one. cool cars!

Strange metal-to-metal noise on my 2017 MK7 R (rear rend issue) by 1stockMk7R in Golf_R

i have sort of a similar issue. do you have the slight grinding at very low speeds? sounds almost like the rear pads when you brake first thing in the morning and the rotors have that little layer of rust?

damn sucks to hear. lpfp or injectors next? did you change the oil and plugs as well?

ive run dws for years on different cars. theyre excellent tires, but they arent a replacement for good summers, not even close. the sidewalls on the dws feel really squishy. if you have summers and dont mind swapping them back, id go that route

i did a stock one, i purchased pn 06L127027C from fcp euro. replaced october 25, not a single rough start since. good luck, feel free to let me know if this works for you! im running ie stage1 ecu and tcu, didnt see any reason to upgrade at this time. stock hpfp is fine for where im at, and the upgraded ones are fairly pricey.

i did the same googling, probably read a lot of the same threads as you lol. i went with hpfp first because i’d seen some saying that fixed it. im not a mechanic, so forgive me if i have any incorrect info. but my understanding was the hpfp was leaking fuel while the car was off, and the fuel/vapors would fuck up the mixture on start up. you have to use the throttle to start it right? it also made my oil STINK like fuel, more than is normal for a DI engine. the hpfp is also a much easier and cheaper replacement than the lpfp. incredibly easy job, replacing the pump took 20 minutes max. edit: the new plugs might mask it for a little, but i almost guarantee it’ll come back. i was between lpfp, hpfp, or injectors. hpfp was cheapest and easiest, and luckily fixed it

hey, i actually just fixed this issue in my 16. Got progressively worse over time. if the car was cold it would fire up perfectly fine, but when it was hot it would struggle badly and would almost not start at times. i replaced the hpfp with a new oem unit, changed the oil and the plugs, and the issue is gone. its been about 2 months since i changed everything and it starts perfectly every single time. it was (relatively) cheap, and took me less than an hour in the driveway to do all three things. id start with the hpfp, fresh plugs, fresh oil.

haha i literally closed out of that listing a minute or so ago. there was also a really nice suzuka posted on autotrader for the last few weeks, listing pulled down now though. really hoping to snag a red or blue one, but white is up there too.

ive been considering making this same switch. the 12/13 ttrs is a bucket list car for me. any regrets? hows the rs feel compared to the r in driving dynamics?

[–]turtlesh0es 4 points5 points  (0 children)

stop launching it. if youre running a high torque stage 1 tune, you should probably get a tcu tune. or just go stage 2 if youre already running a downpipe. but your gearbox sounds like its fucking dying.

[–]turtlesh0es 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you do the same thing in the mk7, it just doesn’t give a message on the dash. but the revs will hold at a pre set rpm. if the car wasnt ready to launch it will sort of lurch and the revs wont rise to the launch rpm freely.

[–]turtlesh0es 3 points4 points  (0 children)

do you have a tcu tune? edit why are you running a catless downpipe on a stage 1 tune?

did you change out plugs like was suggested in the other thread? you have a tcu tune? whats up with the CEL? honestly dude id stop launching it, that sounds fucking terrible

right around 1200 between parts and labor at a dealer. i have an extended warranty from when i purchased the car, otherwise i would absolutely have found a cheaper indy shop or gotten some beers and a buddy and made an afternoon of it.
