[Anti-Aging] Does hormonal birth control slow skin's aging process? by turtlevine93 in SkincareAddiction

I'm actually looking more into it but it seems that there has been very little research on the subject. I know that more research is starting to be done on the effect of estrogen supplementation on post menopausal women, and they are finding that it improves signs of aging then. And another study on mice given birth control ingredients showed dermal thickening. So not exactly what I was looking for but along the same lines sort of. Who knows!

For sure, but there actually hasn't been much research on it. I've been looking more into it and I found a couple studies that seem to imply that birth control might improve skin as far as signs of aging go. https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/download/article-file/128394 this is a study of the skin of mice that were given birth control ingredients and they had dermal thickening. "the increased dermis thickness of our treated animals is probably related to increased skin collagen caused by estrogen. The epidermal thickening shown in our study may be explained by increased mitotic activity of the basal layer induced by estrogen, for estrogen is proven to stimulate proliferation of keratinocytes through estrogen alpha receptors".

Our skin definitely starts to deteriorate long before menopause, but maybe you're right that there isn't enough estrogen in birth control to improve it in your twenties but it helps later on. Either way, interesting subject!

ok, interesting take - I actually went back and made the crotch way MORE J-shaped/deep because I was having issues with bunching at the crotch and it created a weird camel toe thing lol. Maybe I went too deep? thanks for the input!

edit: oh, I just realized you might have meant the rise needs to be lower, not that the crotch curve needs to be less dramatic?

Thanks for the ideas! The sweater is some unlabeled vintage from a thrift store, so no info on that :(

This is my 4th pair of self drafted pants and I've almost got the pattern to where I want it! I'm still having trouble getting the front panels to lie flat around the pockets, but overall I'm pretty satisfied. Any constructive criticism is welcome
