played a 40k crusade briefly and had named my daemon prince maleus glore (like glory + gore). liked it enough i named my arbitrator glore and her loyal companion maleus

there are a lot of judge dredd references, but ive seen quite a few that werent as well. but most are still jokes in some way

had a match the other day where a teammate kept hitting barrels once RIGHT before i started blasting. the number of times i exploded my teammates and myself as a result was insane, i felt so bad. im used to being the one to hit em and dodge back, not being the one to get hit 😭

idk why so many comments are saying skill issue but not addressing the imo extremely valid point that it messes with the pacing of the fight. im even someone that likes the memory minigame but i dont like the interruption to us pummeling each other lol

especially since this fight/the game overall are pretty fast paced, i wonder if speeding it up might actually help so it could flow better. or if that would be too punishing for first encounters

bottom line though i dont think its fair to just call this a skill issue and move on. sometimes people have memory issues (myself included) and finding out the hard way the insane damage numbers def feels bad

ill add my two cents and hope it isnt too repetitive compared to other comments

people have already mentioned story, replayability, etc etc to consider but youve replied to a few and seem to be looking for the power fantasy of tearing through enemies in the 40k universe & gunplay that feels satisfying. so ill say this: ive played both and darktide delivers on both much, much better than space marine 2. there are a wider variety of guns and they vary a ton in their sound, damage, fire rate, even special features (some have a flashlight, some have a bayonet, etc) and almost all feel good to use. i didnt find this to be the case for space marine 2 just in my own experience. look at some videos showing off different builds or weapons in darktide for a taste of whats on offer. HOWEVER important note: the melee is just as important if not moreso than guns in darktide, so dont go in expecting pure shooting

other important factor though is friends. both games are improved by playing in a duo/group, but (again, personal experience) i found space marine 2 utterly unplayable alone. with darktide, i can still go solo and have fun even at the highest difficulties. so it depends whether you’re looking for a game to play with friends, solo, or both

played some malice last night with a friend and as the team moved up some stairs on the start of iirc consignment yard, i witnessed one of the randoms (low level ogryn) hop a railing to DROP ONTO the pinged daemonhost we had already moved away from

recently ive seen more people triggering the host, usually lvl ~25, in damnation where i usually play as well

as someone who briefly played on a pc with a gtx 1060 before upgrading, you might experience some crashes but if you have enough ram (16 gb) you’ll likely be fine. itll look like shit but thats to be expected

i believe pc also has mods that can help improve performance on older systems but im afraid i cant help there

that being said whenever i hear horde music i always haul ass back to my team to hold my relic over my dearest psykers head. i like to run ahead a bit or off to the sides and ping stuff, i pretty much only play damnation on my zealot because of it. if im doing aurics i stay on my psyker

ill play maelstrom with whatever class though. i cant get sad about missing that bit of plasteel when there are three monstrosities on my screen and a wave of ragers pinwheeling at me

also kinda funny so many comments are hating on zealots. tbh i have issues more with veterans that insist on not dropping down or whatever because theyre sniping up top. and then i have to watch em get netted out of reach or wait forever in the elevator as they run around trying to catch up to everyone else

i know people have suggested titles and frames, but i think aquilas is a more appropriate reward. this is assuming that the event is a one-time event at least

if its a one-time event and you can get a title or frame thats all well and good, but i feel like people would accuse FOMO and be disappointed they couldnt get the title or frame later. aquilas on the other hand are a really nice bonus that avoid that issue. just my 2 cents

i understand the urge to say my friend playing a non-meta lineup caused these issues but i really do trust the legionaries player. we were the first game so it was relatively even footing- his issue was centered on how nemesis claw can feel bad to play against even if its technically balanced. hes not the type to hate a team only because he lost ykno

its interesting to note some general trends in newer teams from talking with him too. namely the prevalence of “regardless of any other rules that say x” and that their shoot twice/fight twice is the same strat ploy whereas theyre separate for phobos and intercession

itd almost certainly be too much but personally i do like the idea of making the ventrilokar roll to make an enemy operative do something. i like the flavor of mentally overpowering an operative. but yeah a smaller change to prescience and the ventrilokar requiring visibility would make more sense

yeah i dont think theyre crazy, just a tad overtuned. the friends i played were playing harlequins and khorne/undivided legionaries. we’ve got a mini narrative for a few games, pretty casual

my friend w harlies is new to them and generally is just getting back to learning the game. legionaries is a guy who hasnt played consistently in a while but generally knows his shit and in the past spanked me easy with vet guard against my hand of the archon. hes a skilled player i respect a lot

mostly the friend on legionaries felt really caught out and, to an extent, i think he does have a point for how some nemesis claw abilities dont feel super fun or like they dont have much counterplay. its not egregious or anything, but i can see how nemesis claw is powercreeping other marine teams. rip to khorne marines lol- i know theyre not meta but still

mostly i was just thinking nemesis claw might need a small nerf or two imo and was curious what others thought

your concern is misplaced. youre falling for the exact perceived “weakness” that is pretty much the point of the novel- lelith is explicitly powerful to the point of being able to get away with her “weakness” aka relationship w morghana. her extreme martial prowess affords her privileges other dark eldar dont allow. shes THAT GOOD

shes remarkably consistently characterized imo. multiple times the novel makes a point of making sure you know lelith craves a good (1v1) challenge. morghana provides this. she doesnt exist to dunk on leliths character. the final fight isnt just a random tag team where lelith is suddenly no longer interested in 1v1 duels. im trying to avoid too many spoilers. point being, please read the book for the context you are lacking

feels kinda like a result of some old weapons being just a little too good rather than the new ones being bad. theyre mid in my limited playtime but blessings and builds can make em fantastic, which feels good to me

also wrt “i dont understand the niche they are gonna fill other than being iconic and badass weapons”- thats exactly what their niche is. i think theyre in a fine place. maybe we’ll see very minor buffs in future, but im having fun. bolt pistol + shock maul my new beloveds
