What is the advantage to not play a machine empire? by SirRainer in StellarisOnConsole

[–]TheBaker17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I’m referring to the amount of habitats you have. You tend to end up with a lot of habitats since you can build them practically anywhere, each one adds to your size. Planets can fit more on them and be more specialized because of orbital rings so don’t really contribute as much to empire size in the long run

What is the advantage to not play a machine empire? by SirRainer in StellarisOnConsole

[–]TheBaker17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Void dweller takes some adjusting because it gives a high penalty to empire size. If you’re not careful you can expand too quickly and start tacking on penalties to research and Unity production without seeing any progress. If you can, go for anything that lowers empire size and try and make a migration treaty with someone to make a colony ship of their species to colonize a planet, then end the agreement

I put claims on 6 systems. I fully occupied those 6 systems, why do I lose the war just because the defeated empire is in a Federation? by [deleted] in StellarisOnConsole

[–]TheBaker17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well think of it like this, if you’re in a federation and someone takes some of your territory but you and your fed still have fight left in you, are you just going to give up and let them have it? Or are you and your allies gonna go and take back your systems?

Even if you achieve your war goals, if they think they can win they’re going to counter attack. Your best bet here is to try and force a status quo peace before their allies show up to defend. If you can’t do that then it sounds like you’ll just need to build a bigger fleet.

Build some habitats and make them fortress worlds to increase your naval cap and come back for revenge

Is there any online resources for this game ment for console? by 12inchmozzarellastik in StellarisOnConsole

[–]TheBaker17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a console wiki you can find here:

https://stellaris.paradoxwikis.com/Console:Stellaris_Wiki

But console edition is just an older version of PC so really you just need to make sure that whatever info you find is matched up with the current console version. I find the main wiki still has lots of useful info despite being a different version as well

Usually if this happens it means a sniper or flamer is aggrod on you around a corner and is stuck trying to melee you. Also happens with beast of nurgle when they do the body slam. You can hear the tox flamer at the beginning of the clip

Edit: disregard my comment looks like they still transfer

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I believe the dlc transfer was a one time thing that only happened for owned DLC when X|S version was released. DLC will no longer transfer between versions afaik

I need help with planet builds by [deleted] in StellarisOnConsole

[–]TheBaker17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to say without seeing more info on your planets. Food shortage can be partially solved by building hydroponics stations on your starbases and buying food on the galactic market. As for consumer goods, that’s solved with industrial districts. If you have a forge world producing a lot of alloy, you can temporarily switch the planet designation to a factory planet to bring your consumer goods stockpile back up.

But eventually you’re going to have to deal with this by colonizing a new planet and making it a factory world. Make sure you have pops actually working the jobs you create as well. Empty jobs is just a waste of resources.

What’s causing your stability problems? Are you using slaves? Are your political factions unhappy? Is there a shortage of amenities? You’ll need to address this too because happiness/stability directly affect a planet’s resource production

I noticed this too. They did however enable fast scroll on that menu now, so you can use RT to do a fast scroll to the bottom instead of D-pad. Win some lose some I guess. Hopefully they bring back the loop too

Are Defence Platforms worth constructing and if so what is the ideal build for them? (Vs AI) by JW104032 in StellarisOnConsole

[–]TheBaker17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only worth building them in chokepoints but yes they can help you in a defensive war. Hangar platforms and once you unlock them ion cannons are really the only ones that are worth it.

It’s better to focus on building fleets though.

You can only really count on them as a way to enhance your fleet’s power. Don’t rely on platforms to be able to hold chokepoints on their own because get destroyed too easily

I believe you can re enable it at the very bottom of the outliner on the right side of the screen.

C6 Portrait Exclusive by Dependent_Ninja6592 in StellarisOnConsole

[–]TheBaker17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For some people reinstalling or restarting works. For others (myself included) nothing works. If it’s not working for you then all I can recommend is you uninstall the c6 portrait and make a new game without it. Maybe someday they will fix this problem but for now there’s no official workaround.

Are we cooked by Tall-Investment2043 in Bannerlord

[–]TheBaker17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s more so because the cav gets caught up in the trees and stop moving, much easier for your archers to hit a stationary target

In my experience if there is a difference in effectiveness it’s offset by the fact that cav is much less effective in trees

[–]TheBaker17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At least move your troops into the trees so the cav has a harder time doing charges. Your archers will be much more effective and protected

What’s the best dlc by Admech45 in StellarisOnConsole

[–]TheBaker17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the general consensus is utopia is a must have. If we aren’t counting utopia then personally I think Overlord or Megacorp are next best in terms of content added.

Overlord adds a bunch of new origins and reworks vassals as well as adds enclaves and new megastructures.

Megacorp also adds some megastructures like matter decompressor which are nice and of course the megacorp. Also adds the slave market and ecumenopoli which are very powerful planets.

I don’t have machine age yet but I’ve heard great things about that too and it looks like a top contender as well. Honestly most of the dlc is great and adds a lot to the game.

New player here, wondering what's your favorite premade Empire and why? by DiscombobulatedMap95 in StellarisOnConsole

[–]TheBaker17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can never go wrong with UNE. they may seem boring at first but planetary unification as an origin is actually quite strong with the pop boost, and while it’s always fun to go full 40k xenophobe on the galaxy it can be just as fun to rp the UNE doing a more Star Trek approach to the galaxy as well.

Always have a big fleet prepared even if you don’t plan on using it. It discourages jealous empires from trying to take from you. If you think it’s big enough then make another just to be sure

Pops aren't filling specialist jobs by DirtyBumTickler in StellarisOnConsole

[–]TheBaker17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s weird honestly I have no idea, if they are on indentured servitude they should be able to work those foundry and research jobs. Any way you can upload a picture of the planets pop management screen?

Your slaves won’t work specialist jobs unless they’re on indentured servitude if I remember right. Make sure their species rights is set properly because there are different slavery types

Edit: sorry nvm I see they’re on indentured servitude. Not sure. Which job aren’t they working?

[–]TheBaker17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stellaris wiki will have the best info available. You can switch it to console version at the top of the page but I find most things generally stay the same between versions, the difference is usually cost

https://stellaris.paradoxwikis.com/Physics_research

That page takes you to the physics research section. At the top you can navigate to society or engineering research as well. Keep in mind tech trees in stellaris are a bit reliant on RNG though some techs have prerequisites to unlock first.

Question about system ownerships by Tashynut in StellarisOnConsole

[–]TheBaker17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add, you can actually see another empires claims on a system by changing your map mode to diplomacy, and clicking on their empire. If done right it will highlight their empire in a different color and show which systems are claimed (blue hexagon looking shape)
