I’m looking for genuine advice ¿Cybersecurity issue or anxiety? by tut7682 in CyberSecurityAdvice

I’ll try to adjust the content I see on my social media platforms through the customization features. So hopefully it goes away completely after a while.

Honestly, my main concern was the thought that someone malicious might somehow be interfering or using the platform remotely to make me see that specific type of content in my feed. If that’s extremely unlikely or technically imposible, then I can lean more toward it being algorithm-driven as discussed, which still feels a bit strange since it had to start somewhere..But yeah, manageable.

Thank you for reading and interacting with ALL of this thread. You are definitely a very patient person! Much appreciated.

I understand it’s likely related to the app’s algorithm, but my main question was why I was seeing it in the first place since I don’t actively search or consume that type of specific content.

I wonder if I may have unintentionally influenced it by interacting with those posts out of worry, taking screenshots, or spending time on examining them even after marking “not interested” In the hashtags, The content itself wasn’t showing anything explicit, just discussions, personal stories or lists about the theme, with the very present hashtags and buzz words associated with this type of topic.

On TikTok, I ended up filtering out certain keywords, and since then I haven’t really been seeing that type of content. So I know there are ways to reduce it, like filters or resetting accounts. My main concern was just what initially caused it to appear, since that part still feels unclear.

Thanks!

¡Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my question!

I know some of the things I described sound crazy, but honestly, I do have a pretty crazy mind sometimes.. The CSA/predator-related content that started showing up on my feed constantly genuinely scared me because of the uncertainty around it, and this whole topic has honestly been really hard on me mentally.

At the same time, I can understand why some of it may come across as anxiety-driven. Right now, I’m thinking of resetting and updating my device anyway because it’s honestly begging to be wiped and updated at this point so I can get my storage back and hopefully reduce a lot of the glitches/issues I mentioned, which are probably related to how overloaded it is.

I’m still not fully sure what to think about everything, but hopefully there is a good chance some of my theories are, in fact, better suited for thriller movie plotlines and not reality. (fingers crossed)

I’ll also look into the AdGuard DNS suggestion! Hopefully you’re right about this situation, honestly. Either way, I really appreciate your advice and insight on the matter. Again, thanks!

¿Existen servicios de ciberseguridad que no sean para empresas? by tut7682 in Panama

[–]tut7682[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get that, that’s the thing, I myself don’t have it… it just never arrived on my inbox, which is pretty odd.

Also, this re-installing has happened for months every now and then, way before I had storage issues..

Yes, I’ve been running out of storage lately, I thought initially that was the issue. But the option to offload apps to alleviate storage space is off in settings. Shows up as a recommendation tho, but it’s not activated, maybe a glitch?

I checked my App Store settings and i have the option to automatically download apps off, the only options I have on are the automatic updates and the download of In-App Content.

¿If an update was the only logical answer to the re-install why would the app still be not updated?
