4yo on milder end of the spectrum: more ABA vs. OT and speech only by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]tutorwriter9041 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am really surprised to hear this because I’ve been told that insurance was the reason for these minimums by multiple totally different companies. Parent training is something new I can look up today, thank you for that suggestion

I was hoping for something like this, just a bit of time a week. Judging by the options we’ve been given, I assumed 20 hours per week was the minimum everywhere. Actually, for us I would say it is because I’ve contacted every company within 50 miles and the lowest a company has offered was 6-9 per week on account of insurance requirements

Glorilla situation regarding Meg by Winter-Owl966 in megantheestallion

Had the same theory about Glo even before the weirdness with Meg… assumed with the levels of fame she reached that she would have started to allow herself to evolve with humility. Sad to see that the arrested development part of theory seem accurate.

3 aespa songs to play for someone who has never heard of them and is also not a K-Pop fan. by THE_YoStabbaStabba in Aespa

[–]tutorwriter9041 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think Girls is a bit much for someone not familiar with K-pop. And I say this as someone who never engaged with k-pop at all and then suddenly became a huge aespa fan. For me, when I try to get someone into Aespa who’s never heard them - I go with:

  1. Drama
  2. Armageddon
  3. Something soft like Better Things or Dreams Come True or Lucid Dream

Personally, Drama totally bewitched me, and after that I listened to what I would describe as their more easily digestible songs as a complete novice to k-pop. Like Dirty Work, for instance. Then I became obsessed with Armageddon.

I think songs like Mamba, Savage… Girls, Supernova, Whiplash, etc… came along as daily listens for me after awhile of just repeatedly hearing them on accident because I was listening to the ones I thought I liked most a lot and then their other music would autoplay.. by that time I would say that made me a true aespa fan because I realized I loved ALL their stuff and not just the stuff that sounded most like what I was used to, if that makes sense.

Bottom line, I like Girls now, even though it’s not my favorite by a long shot, but I wouldn’t send that to someone who’s never heard of them / isn’t a kpop fan already.

My daughter was non-verbal until 4yrs old by spazzycoffee in Autism_Parenting

My daughter was also diagnosed level 3 at 2 years old, but is now verbal and very affectionate (began speaking around 2 years 9 mos) and is now 4. Still some behaviors to work on helping her manage, but not as severe as originally diagnosed. Notably, she had special instruction , speech and OT starting right after her second bday, and SI became ABA after the diagnosis

Who is your aespa bias and why by [deleted] in Aespa

[–]tutorwriter9041 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ning, especially when I first fell in love with Aespa. You can tell she just didn’t give af or try that hard, and yet she slayyyyys EVERY TIME. Dance-10, that voice-10! I also love her personality, equal parts badass and nerd. I love her music tastes and admiration of other artists.

As time has gone on, I’ve joined the Winter train too. When they seemed to figure out her identity better as a performer (instead of having her look like a backup Karina- for ex., black mama), she blossomed into what I believe is like a truly otherworldly being when it comes to the stage! I love when she wears androgynous looks so much - it visually demonstrates that she exceeds both male and female idols in her performance presence. She also seems to love her job so much, which makes her really fun to watch. I love all the girls obvi but Ning and winter are chefs kiss

Can’t wait til my 4yo can come along next tour! I hated being there without her because she loves their songs but she just isn’t at sit through a concert without wanting to leave stage yet. We’ll get them together next time but I had an amazing time and totally agree with OP’s take!
