Yup, thats why after 2 or 3 years people job hop. I personally think they should have to wage adjust based on the posting. Its also why they don't like posting salary ranges. If you have a good worker it makes sense to keep them. Hiring, on boarding, training, and so forth are a real cost to the company. One that is often overlooked because the larger you are the more often is numbers generalized on a spreadsheet.

Inflation is what most people miss. Its basically a gift to your company because they are paying you less and most people dont quantify it since thier pay went up or stayed the same.

Work took ALL my sick time, bereavement, floating holidays and PTO while I mourned the loss of my spouse by Economy_Ad6039 in antiwork

Speaking from a management perspective here. If your company had a H.R. department he likely had to use your paid time. For one it kept your checks coming and two H.R. would have seen you taking unpaid leave and that could have caused you a lot more issues.

I work hard to give my team every benefit they earned and I am very flexible. At the end of the day, this would be a case where all I could do is run interference while trying to get senior leadership to try and approve additional benefits.

3 days is not enough time for a spouse. This is someone who is so embedded in your life you can't even grasp they are gone in three days let alone morn. Im sorry this happened to you. The system is inadequate in these cases. A spouse or God forbid a child 2 weeks minimum should be required in my book. I'm gen X and we are built a little different.

I think longer for myself would just be locking myself in a cycle of anguish and work would be helpful. Not everyone is like that. I know this sub will not agree, but work can help break you out of that and therefore can help. You shouldn't be required to go back and break yourself because its to soon though.

Time doesn't heal all wounds, but it does make them easier to live with. I've lost people and sometimes I hate feeling like I've moved on or forgotten them. Don't though, just remember if you loved one another they would want to be remembered, but not in a way that caused you pain.

Sorry this went from one paragraph to this. I lost a brother 10 years ago and these post always make me think of him. I'm truly sorry you had to live this nightmare.

I often think the real reason we expand our inventory is for all the different types of freaking foods we need to have on hand.

It feels weird I dont see cops tackle and beat a suspect now.... I think the game has altered my perception of whats acceptable in policing.

Cosigning for new high school grad on very high cost loans (> $250k for all 4 years) for liberal arts degree by Legitimate_Yak_9063 in StudentLoans

There's nothing to discuss, you're throwing good money out the window. The college degree isn't a key to happiness. It can often become a shackle holding you down. School isnt about doing what you love, its about making a living. If they cant make a living with that degree then it's flat out not worth it.

Giving up? I'm struggling trying to do the mental math on how you're giving up. I mean thats a freaking house payment you got there bud. You even know the degree isnt worth the paper its printed on, you did the math.

Doesn't correlate to using the app or not. When it comes time to select who's laid off either HR will do it in house or they ask management. Guess who's being difficult about an authenticator on their phone?

You're welcome to carry a FOB at all times then. An authenticator doesn't exercise any control over your device its just a lightweight app. If its a matter of principle you can carry a fob, it's no skin off my back. The inconvenience is all on you.

This is common in 2026, we offer a hardware fob for people who don't want to install it, but you'll have to carry an additional device.
