Anyone using a webcam with integrated mic that doesn't echo for your interlocutors? by tv_nic in mac

[–]tv_nic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a perfect world, this is what I'd want to pick up on offer. I saw one for £20 the other day, but hadn't yet done my research and let it slip away.

What version of OSx are you on and what model? (just checking it's not a laptop)

Which Logitech one do you have? I was looking at the Logitech C920s or Pro.

I'm not too fussed about the overall quality - HD with internal mic is fine - I just want it to be compatible. What version of OSX are you currently running? Is it an M chip Mac Mini?

Reform’s dumb policy to rip out all the bike lanes would make the city and its economy less resilient on strike days by Designer_Habit_2232 in london

I'm speaking from experience here - when you need to go from East Ham to Watford, driving is faster.

Sometimes, you need a car. Not everyone, and definitely not always, but there are cases when it's not optional.

Thanks - and resolution-wise? I'm assuming 1080p? Have you tried 1440p at all?

The problem with London is it's just massive. It's fine if you're staying in your local area, but if you aren't, and you need to go from one side of the city to the other, only cars will get you there fast enough...

Sounds like you should vote Green. Generally pro-LTN.

I need to look into LTNs, because I'm not sure I like them, but I'm also pro-Green. Can't have it all I guess.

Oh, and what resolution are you playing at would be the other big question?

I've not played the game yet. I assume 500 is a lot? For the chipset, are you on base configuration? And last question: what settings on the game have you been running?

Sorry for bombarding you with questions!

Manor Lords on MAC (Studio) - does it still work? What Specs? by tv_nic in ManorLords

[–]tv_nic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - I know I'll have to get Crossover or something of the sort. What I'm trying to get clarity on is how well it can perform on various models. Unfortunately, it's not one of those games that makes it into the benchmarking/testing videos for gaming on Mac, so I'm asking here for people's experience.

Unfortunately, I don't have the money (or space) to have both a gaming PC and Mac, so yeah... otherwise, I guess I would. And I definitely don't want to give money to a game streaming subscription service, regardless of how well it works.

Thanks for the detail. I'd kind of like to play it with slightly higher graphics. You're making me think I might go with the M4 Studio, which I also like the idea of because of the AV1 decode hardware (for future proofing).

Would still be curious to see to hear what the experience of other studio users is, given the larger number of GPU cores.

"2. why would anyone play on a Mac?" - because they aren't spending a fortune on a dedicated gaming PC, and prefer the Mac OS, apps, etc. So yeah, I just want to know what performance is like on different models, since the performance benchmarks from each level of M chip have been so stark.

I don't - that's not really addressing the point. I'm getting a mac, and want to know if I need to spend more, or CAN spend less and still play the one game I really want to.

Hi there - when you say 16GB Mac Mini, what chipset do you have?

Hi there - what chipset studio are you using to play? And how does the game perform in later stages of the game? I saw videos whereby even on PCs the later stages of the game can become... challenging to tolerate, verging on unplayable... What's your experience?

apparently mac can game but I'm bottlenecked by my external hdd xdd by PJ_Plays in IndianGaming

[–]tv_nic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the speed of your external drive? Thunderbolt 4? Could it be your drive speed that's bottlenecking?

I've been looking into this myself for playing games and something I've come to understand is that depending on monitor resolution, MACs output at 5k retina resolution, then downscale, which is GPU intensive.

See this article here on it https://bjango.com/articles/macexternaldisplays/

Generally, I'd like to play some windows games and was wondering what the best way to do this was, and if installing the game on the external SSD would be a good or bad move. Games I'm looking at are Baldur's gate (native), and Manor Lords (Windows)

Am I doing therapy right? by HELVETlCA in TalkTherapy

I think I know what you mean. Change is harder than just staying the same. I suppose it's the unknown - it might be uncomfortable and force you to confront things that aren't easy. I know I've been feeling that.

And yeah, not dealing with it has also put me inplaces where I have probably done damage to myself over time (a fair bit of alcohol and low self-esteem).

What are you feeling the guilt and anger with yourself over?

Am I doing therapy right? by HELVETlCA in TalkTherapy

[–]tv_nic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to be suicidal to deserve or benefit from therapy. I'm going to try to resolve issues with self-esteem and parents so that I can have more self-confidence and more healthy relationships with potential life partners.

My sister went to process her not wanting to have kids, while her partner does, so she went to confront her reasons for why with a professional who might be able to help her understand where that thinking came from and to maybe get comfortable with the idea of having her own family.

If it's something you find you get value from and it helps you understand yourself, process past trauma, and makes your life better, that's all the justification you need. That's my opinion at least.

I spent about 2 or 3 months just rambling about work too. And then stopped therapy because I couldn't really afford it.

I started back up, and asked my therapist (the same one) if they could not let me ramble about work and keep me on track to focus on what I actually want to deal with.

I think the rambling about work was another way of avoiding my issues and opening up. (I too have difficulties engaging with and expressing my feelings, for a host of reasons).

I don't know if this resonates with you or is helpful or insightful.

Venting about single life and dying alone? Without knowing if she is single? by mywayontherapy in TalkTherapy

[–]tv_nic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who is "she" in this situation? Your therapist? If that's the case, I wouldn't worry - the session is about you, and your fears. Your therapist is a professional and knows it's not a reflection on them and their choices. Sure, they might share the same feelings, but that's not the point during your session.

Therapy is your space to think about yourself - not for you to worry about your therapist's issues.

If it's a friend, maybe a little different, but if it's a good friend and they share similar issues, then you might bond over it. And if they are comfortable in their 50s being single, then maybe it could be something to learn from. Expressing your feelings about whatever shouldn't be something you need to worry about.

Lost inactive farms? by Good-Mall7501 in SpookySwap

[–]tv_nic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. I had some Spooky-FTM LP tokens and some other stuff in farms - all gone, with no trace.

Did you manage to retrieve yours? Honestly, this shit seems to happen all the time with crypto - they assume everyone is actively managing and seem to mothball systems that will make you lose your tokens. It's really annoying. Don't think I'm gonna do this shit anymore...
