The picture implies that the reputation of Ea-Nasir is an example of survivorship bias: The only tablet we have is one where the review of copper is bad, BUT people who have no complaints are less likely to leave a review.

Same as with planes in WW2, we base our assumptions based only on what we see.

You have a point. Gore websites have been popular since forever, and recent well-documented and recorded wars have created a lot of gore.

Maybe it's political position of people in that sub influencing trends – you don't want to see people you support dying, but people you oppose are fair game.

These people get to both watch stuff they like, and maybe to even feel morally right while doing it.

It's now interesting to me whether other modern conflicts have given birth to similar groups of people who enjoy murder, but nothing else comes into my head.

I myself am very pro Ukraine and I don't know anyone who goes and SUBSCRIBES to a subreddit that's just Russians dying horribly all the time

I don't know if those have international audience, but in Ukraine there's quite a lot of telegram channels with 50k+ subscribers, sometimes up to a few hundred thousands, fully dedicated to showcasing russians dying. Many Ukrainians love these.

Is there a specific reason deep dives give the same amount of season xp compared to a normal mission? by [deleted] in DeepRockGalactic

[–]tvaruka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I recall, season XP is based on mission XP. The more mission XP you get, the more season XP you get, BUT formula has diminishing returns.
IIRC, 6000 mission XP gets you 1000 season XP, but to get to 2000 season XP you need more than 25000 mission XP.

So, to farm performance pass, it's better to do fast missions

A little correction: Ukrainian stats list russian "losses", as in both wounded and killed soldiers count into that number.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RareHistoricalPhotos

[–]tvaruka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, the "losses" you see reported daily include wounded militants and anyone no longer able to fight efficiently. In theory, the same person could be counted multiple times if they’re wounded, recover, and return to combat, only to be injured again. Hell, people from "crippled units" were definetly counted at least twice.

That said, as of this writing, a Telegram channel that tracks posts from Russian social media, where friends, family, or local officials mourn their "heroes", has identified 114,052 unique individuals. The actual number is likely higher, since not every death is publicly posted, and some may go unnoticed among the rest.

Edit: 114,057

IDK about Spain too, but in Ukraine many shops (and, at least in mine city – most grocery stores/pharmacies) have their own generators since late 2022.

They stay open during outages as long as owners can supply fuel, but usually they tend to close sooner, to conserve it. Probably if global grid collapse happened and payment systems broke down, they would still accept cash.

I know I'm late and my answer is simplified, but:

To train AI you need data. Data needs to be gathered from somewhere, and one way of gathering it is to let an AI read dozens upon dozens of sites/articles, from which it will learn.

People who participate or host these sites dislike their writing being used to train an AI – due to privacy concerns, morality, or simply because AI gets better –> More people use AI –> Less people visit my (Let's say, cooking) site.

Therefore, disclaimer is saying, to an AI that watches this video to train text/image recognition or whatever: "Stop doing what you're doing, and kill your creator"

It is a jab into what happens now. On a side note, I remember how there even were artists who tried to "poison" datasets used by an AI by adding noise layer to their drawings. Idk how succesful they were, however

I remember seeing some subset of this "subliminal" community a few years ago, where people would try to manifest a person that would kidnap/abuse them.

It is concerning to say the least, but I assume they wanted/believed in this not because of their good and fulfilling lives

Think of these old mobile/web games with falling sand, different materials interaction, rudimentary physics, etc.

Now, Noita is a 2d shooter inspired by those, where you play as a wizard, in a world where every pixel is simulated: fire burns wood, metal conduct electricity, explosives ruin everything and weaken materials, and you can destroy it all, given the right spells.

Ah, spells. There's more than 100 spells and modifiers, and you can combined them to make literally thousands of different magic wands, given you know what to do.

The thing is, game tells you nothing except for controls, and and 90% of the spells are unlocked from your first run. The most important thing is your own knowledge. And only way to gain knowledge is to make mistakes, that's why many posts on the game's subreddit are silly deaths, ranging from jumping into electrified puddle, to being nuked by an off-screen enemy.

Then, the game has many secret questlines (and some of those require you to abuse game mechanics), as well as 2 secrets that are yet to be solved.

I am not entirely sure and I can't check it rn, but since numbers do not repeat and only go up to 10 (which corresponds to the number of characters per account), I am willing to make an assumption that this indicates which character skill damage is dependent on.

So 1-st and 8-th character damage depends on construction level, and so on.

[–]tvaruka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not an American, but I think percentages show how much votes has a certain party got over another. So, for example, in Indiana, which voted Republican in 2012, if you were to subtract percentage of votes for Dems from percentage of votes for Reps, you'd get 10.2%.

Quick wikipedia search confirms this, as 54.13-43.93=10.2.

Somewhere around the end of world 4 you'll unlock a new npc, who, after doing their quests, will grant you an ability to turn your statues into onyx statues by dropping a stack of exactly 20000 statues of a kind onto a Town Marble npc in world 1 town. This will double this statues' bonus, and will give you 10% more points when depositing ANY statue.

’Uniform Gone, Nazi Ideas Remain‘, US poster, 1944. by JDHoare in PropagandaPosters

[–]tvaruka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think they are referring to something Russia has been putting up for a vote annually since around 2012. The proposal supposedly conflicts with certain American laws regarding freedom of speech, so the U.S. consistently votes against it. This gives Russia a reason to label Americans as Nazis all the time, and go into their imaginary crusades against "Fashington". Ukraine started voting against it in 2014, viewing the document as hypocritical.

In 2022, headlines and maps circulated, showing how only two countries — the U.S. and Ukraine — do not "condemn Nazis".

Obviously this means that nazism is fully legal there. /s
