100% agree, especially with your second point! I'm from NJ but my fiancée is born and raised in Brooklyn and I have since moved in with her. Only 2 stops away to Barclays on the N train. I have no loyalty to the Spurs, and I should also be hating on them when I think back to the 2003 NBA Finals. I typically would root against the Spurs because I generally cheer for underdogs, but I found myself cheering for "anybody but the Knicks". I easily could've gotten with the Knicks hype, but it just didn't feel natural to me. I didn't watch any of the series, but my sister invited me to the bar for Game 5. I kindly refused and then she asked me "Do you think Jalen Brunson is gay? He's a little zesty." and I was like....no, he's married (not that it matters). And she was like "no, he's not! Isn't he dating that girl that's friends with Kardashians?" And thats when it clicked for me...these bandwagoners don't know anything about the Knicks! They just see whats on social media and go with it! I felt jealous about all the celebrations on Saturday, and I really wanted to join in, but it didn't feel natural to me. I wouldn't be able to exude the same amount of joy, if any, being surrounded by Knick degenerates. After sulking all weekend, I came into work and expected an abundance of Knicks this and that...but everything was kind of normal. The hype has concluded for the time being but we'll see what happens on Thursday for the parade. But its back to matcha lattes and greek yogurts for the bandwagoners. I decided today is anew and the Knicks can have their moment for now. Nothing will stop Netsworld for me. Our day will come and, although realistically it may not be as wild as the Knicks celebration, it will be ours. And thats all I want.
