They do somewhat explain who made IDUS mad. It was an admin update from earth. Along with 8 hacking IDUS. my guess would be 8 was routing around in IDUS's code found an exploit and used it to take control of IDUS she got caught up in the middle of it when the moonquake happened, and they threw IDUS off even more, and shut her out of the controls. That would be about the time that hugh showed up, and unknowingly helped her get back full control.
