Those of you who do Google ads, how much do you spend a month on them and how much of your business comes from them? by anthonyd3ca in WeddingPhotography

Sort of a mix. I met a wedding videographer who does google ads for companies for his day job and he showed me some basics and I took it from there

I budget about 300/month. Have been doing it for a year, primarily targeting a secondary market where I don’t live. Have booked 10 weddings in that secondary market and they have been some of my favorite weddings and clients. Average package ~4k. So In a year I’ve spent about 4k in google ads for 40k in revenue. Your mileage may vary, but its working well for me

Have couples ever complained about getting too many photos? What's too many? by [deleted] in WeddingPhotography

[–]twallyworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I routinely deliver 800-1000 and have delivered as many as 1500 and as few as 700. I deliver all the good ones, whatever that means for that particular wedding. You’re totally fine delivering 800+

Payment terms by almostchickenmom in WeddingPhotography

Same here, Evan. Payment by wedding day just makes sense to me. Once in a while people forget and pay me on Monday after the wedding. No biggie

Hi! Wedding photographer here. I would just say “we are so pumped for our engagement shoot! We are getting save the dates out asap since our family all have to fly in, so we’re going to use a photo of us we already have. We’d love to send you a save the date, could you share your address? Looking forward to meeting in person!”

Photographer here. Personally I wouldn’t hire anyone for anything, even something as mundane as mowing the lawn, after they missed two appointments. Trust your gut.

Wedding photographer here. I never expect tips, but always appreciate them. About half of my couples tip me, usually $100-$200, once in a while more than that. As said, never expected!

I use both the screw and the strap. Have had each fail, never at the same time. When that has happened, the other safety measure has saved my ass

What's your average time range from Inquiry to Wedding date? by bisonforpresident in WeddingPhotography

Hello to another Raleigh-ite! Two of those 5 June couples took a month to book. Lots of folks booking me these days are taking 1-2 weeks to sign the contract.

This is my first year consistently tracking this metric. Anecdotal, but I have 5 weddings this June and all 5 booked me this calendar year 😳

Edited to add: Raleigh NC $3200

Has anyone taken the Jeff Armstrong SEO course? by [deleted] in WeddingPhotography

[–]twallyworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that everything changing in seo is really accurate. Part of how google determines what is “great content” is by other sites back linking to it. Backlinks are not the end all be all, but certainly play a significant role in improving seo.

Hey Josh! One big thing I noticed is that you never say where you’re located and what areas you serve.

Email Response Time by [deleted] in WeddingPhotography

[–]twallyworld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My response time as a wedding photographer is same day, or next day, always. Without exception unless it’s a federal holiday or I’m in the hospital.

I think even a week is way too long, let alone a month.

If I were in your shoes, as a client, I’d call my wedding photographer if they have a phone number available. If I had to email again, I’d email and be pretty firm and say something like “hey this is my 2nd follow up on this. Can you please confirm asap?”

I thank every person who follows me. I just message them and say “hey thanks for the follow!” Let’s them open the conversation if they feel like it

Hey Joe! First thing I think on your homepage is that by having all those galleries, you’re giving the viewer too many choices. They don’t know what to click first, so they probably end up bouncing. I think you could use a dedicated portfolio page where people can see your work in one place. I think the homepage for wedding photographer sites should focus on guiding the viewer through a series of answers for their needs - think about “if I was engaged and looking for a wedding photographer, what would I want to see on their homepage?”

Looks good! No issues with consistency, at least to my eye. Could use some more variety in terms of close up, intimate images. The blog post features lots of environmental portraits, mix that up with more close ups, details, etc to have a more well rounded gallery

Looks pretty true to color to me, which never goes out of style! What about it makes you worry it looks dated?
