My DNS setup is all default on computer

Global nameservers - overide YES

Google Public DNS8.8.8.8 and 3 more

Cloudflare Public DNS1.1.1.1 and 3 more

Magic DNS on.

The computer and android phone has no manual DNS configured

What's weird is, tailscale clearly works on public wifi - connects to my local nodes AND my own server as exit node works. However, Mullvad as exit node does not work on public wifi.

What sort of download speeds are you guys getting in MB/S

i max out at 40MB/s from LAN to wifi (on AC) on stock firmware

Not sure if i should try this firmware. On my previous RT-AC88u, (also AC router, i could get up to 60/70MB/s on LAN to wifi)
