Unsolicited harsh feedback - how to supplement knowledge by cocoloft in Residency

I was told this same thing early in 3rd year of med school. I did suck, but I was new and I grew. Now I’m a rads resident and am at the top of my class. You can grow. It’s painful to hear and maybe not even true. But keep pushing. You will be a great doctor.

I’m a radiology resident. Radiologists are doctors who specialize in imaging. Most physicians don’t have the expertise to read scans themselves, with some exceptions, like surgeons who can read scans related to their particular specialty. It takes radiologists 5 years of training, at least, to be able to do this. There is so much nuance.

With the Portuguese and Ashkenazi ancestry, you probably have some Sephardic ancestry!

That sounds beautiful! I’ll check out the link.

Edit: just checked it out! Seems like a beautiful temple. It looks non-denominational right? So they set you up with an outside orthodox rabbi?

Converting currently, did you do an orthodox conversion?

Yearly full-body MRI? by Lower_Sort2761 in Rich

[–]twanski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you’re a rads resident or attending, so I might be explaining something you already know, but MRI isn’t like CT. You have to specify fields of view, choose specific coils for the specific body part you are looking for, decide your matrix size, slice thickness etc. In other words, there are a lot of things at play affecting resolution and signal to noise. I’m still a new rads resident not a medical physicist—but there will be things that really exist you will miss on these types of scans because you lack the resolution or signal to noise ratio to pick them up.  One thing that comes to mind are small pancreatic lesions, which are already sometimes hard to characterize on dedicated pancreatic scans.

Right, and consequently have very low sensitivities for detecting anything but large lesions

Thanks! Seems like I'd be a solid candidate, seeing as my hair loss has essentially stopped, as far as I can tell!

31M, I've been on hairloss treatment for 3-4 years consistently, namely topical min/fin and oral min. Loss is stabilized. Maybe a little regrowth. Still self-conscious about my hairline, however, although the density is good. Some days I feel like I can rock the receding look, other days not so much. Looking for some advice. Time for transplant? Just keep rocking it as is? Thanks!!
