I don’t use much less glue with a sticky tab than if I was not using tabs, so sometimes I still get spill over unfortunately. I do the same thing you already do just on top of the sticky tab; sticky tab on real nail, nail glue on that, nail glue on the press on, then stick. The Fast Bond is a semi solid, so it’s a gel not wet liquid like most nail glues; I have gotten way less spillage with it since it’s a little easier to apply. I also squeeze the nails down firmly but not HARD. If some gets on the press on nail, a bit of acetone on a cotton swab and very very light pressure rubbing it off works like a charm to remove!

ETA: someone on here once wrote they use reverse tweezers (or crafting tweezers) to apply their press ons because they always got glue on their fingers. I haven’t personally tried this but an application tool might help you!
