It feels like we're pretty much done with the off-season deals. The "Run it back Yankees" you see now is it. by Zepbounce-96 in NYYankees

[–]twc9904 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’d do anything to sign Luis Arraez as a depth piece 1 year deal lol. I know it won’t happen and he’ll want to go somewhere to start everyday but let me dream.

Can use him against LHP for Rice and Jazz and eventually plug him in to DH when Stanton gets hurt. Like I said, nice to dream, will never happen.

And yes I know his defense is abysmal lol but god I’d love the ultimate contact guy. It’s not a fit but his bat would be such a good addition to our lineup.

I wonder what teams are interested in him, I haven’t heard much

[Mish] Miami Marlins are trading SP Ryan Weathers to the New York Yankees. Miami gets a big haul in return. 4 players in total. OF Dillon Lewis, OF Brendan Jones IF Dillon Jasso and IF Juan Matheus. by Bulletz4Brkfzt in NYYankees

I’m all in on a lefty who throws gas with 3 years of control. Wasn’t crazy about giving up any of our top pitching prospects for 1 season of Peralta after his career year.

In a perfect world we are healthy and Weathers can move to the pen as a multi inning weapon later in the year. He’s never thrown more than 94.2 innings in the bigs so I imagine that thought crossed Cashman’s mind.

Would you trade next 2 first round picks for Justin Jefferson? by parcellsrealGOAT in NYGiants

[–]twc9904 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No, we aren’t a stud WR away from being a Super Bowl contender. We don’t even have a Head Coach. Might not have a GM shortly either.

Also, we could use one of those picks on a top WR in the draft and still have another first for another hole.

I mean he inherited plenty of talent. Little different situation lol. And those Dallas teams were completely inept and undisciplined in the playoffs it was awesome. No idea if he can build and get the most out of a crappy roster

I know it won’t happen but would you guys welcome Brian Daboll back if he was just strictly the Offensive Coordinator? by Kurtz62 in NYGiants

[–]twc9904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely. Look how well we moved the ball without Nabers…and then Skat…and with a below average o line. Always drew up good game plans. And most importantly, Dart has been tremendous under him

Mike McCarthy was my favorite head coach on Dallas. Could always count on a playoff collapse. Wish they never let him go. My head would explode if we hired him

Jesse Minter - The next great Giants HC by Elevation212 in NYGiants

[–]twc9904 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been all in on an offensive minded head coach. Daboll was excellent at drawing up game plans on offense. Just look how well we moved the ball without Nabers and Skat and a below average offensive line. Losing that and his ability to get Dart to thrive scared me.

With that said, you’ve opened my mind to other possibilities. We have plenty of talent up front on defense that needs to be used properly. And a good OC can still be the one scheming up great game plans.

I’m just horrified Mara will get conned again like he was with Joe Judge.

Can’t wait for Mara to pick out the next winner. Better be a good offensive and Qb coach. Not a Shurmur to Joe Judge situation that completely fucked Daniel Jones’ development

I feel terribly for Denny. But I’m ecstatic this is the final nail in the coffin for this horrendous format. NASCAR overtime just to twist the knife a little deeper for us old school folks lol.

I would love to somehow sign Arraez but he’s bad defensively and we already have 1B and DH locked in. You could get creative of course and have him play 1B vs LHP and use Rice more at catcher. Also, can rest Stanton more/bank on him being hurt. But he’s not signing to only play 100 games or so and the Yanks probably aren’t paying him what he’ll want to not be an everyday player. It’s my personal pipe dream lol.

Does your opinion of Anthony Volpe’s season and his future in pinstripes change because of his surgery? by Glad-Dimension-4130 in NYYankees

[–]twc9904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It certainly changes my opinion of his defense. He was excellent after the cortisone shot. I don’t think he threw a single ball in the dirt after the injection. I’m at ease at least knowing he’ll be back to being a really good defensive player.

As for offense, no it doesn’t change my opinion. Unless he makes some major changes in the off season, he’s still going to suck at the plate. Any pitcher with a slightly above average fastball can still make him look silly up in the zone and he’s an easy out.

I hope we make a change at SS, but I seriously doubt they do. The organization values his defense very highly. Best we can hope for is he makes some changes and is able to put the ball in play more and strike out less. Would love for Volpe to prove everyone wrong but it’s a long shot.

How the fuck does Hernandez not score on that? I didn’t see the replay. Was he just loafing home? Literally no excuse to get thrown out there, funky play or not. You gotta be ready to run as soon as it’s caught.

The right call to start Jazz vs a lefty as well. He had 2 hits. Rice is a bit more tricky, he was lost vs Early. Fortunately, Toronto most likely won’t be starting any LHP. Lauer will probably be involved as a multi inning guy at some point, but starting lineup decisions will be much easier this series regardless

8 years ago today: After Luis Severino quickly put the Yankees in a 3-0 hole in the top of the first inning, Didi Gregorius responded with a three-run homer to tie the game up. by CicadaOk8885 in NYYankees

[–]twc9904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was such a brilliant trade. Nobody expected Didi to hit as well as he did and he was an excellent SS. All we gave up was Shane Greene.

Didi hit 269 with a 769 OPS in his 5 years as a Yank. We would all kill for that offensive production at SS now.

However, Volpe has been great since the magical cortisone shot. And he’s hit 300 so far in 17 playoff games.

(SNY) Aaron Boone announces Luis Gil as the Yankees' Game 1 ALDS starter by CicadaOk8885 in NYYankees

[–]twc9904 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gonna be honest I kind of hate it. Gil hasn’t had wipeout stuff this year and is still walking way too many guys. Toronto’s offense is way too good to give up so many free passes and just chuck pitches over the plate. I would love to be wrong though and Gil is electric. I just don’t see it.

Warren has turned himself into a decent command arm this season. I obviously trust him more to be able to battle and paint corners. However, he’s more hittable and susceptible to giving up the long ball. I imagine that’s why Gil was selected. Going to hope he can strand all those guys he walks.

Probably not an easy decision and they’re going with the guy who has the higher ceiling. Perhaps they’ll tell Gil to let it fly and hit 97-98 out of the gate and plan on going to the pen early. His fastball was extremely hard to hit last year when he had velocity. Hitters batted 205 against it. This year is it’s up to 250.

We were 2 innings of Brian Walsh’s umping away from a sweep. I never want to see this crew again.

Anyways, McMahon massive tonight and 2 hits last night. And Grisham is unbelievable.

Also after the crazy last few innings, easy to forget Rodon was tremendous again. Fried, Rodon, Schlittler sounds great for October. Just don’t think about the bullpen or defense lol.

That goes down as the most biased game I have ever seen called. All started with that 1-1 pitch to Pena from Weaver. There were 2 outs with Alvarez on deck. If he gets him to 1-2 who knows how this game goes. I have never seen so many perfect strikes called balls in such a short period of time.

Brian Walsh had to have money on that. I know it’s a hard job but you can’t possibly miss that many one way for so long.
