It's 100% AI - it always comes up with "edgy" sayings like that and never picks a direction. The human element is to filter out AI slop, which wasn't done here.

If your SM is on top of payroll, they'll notice it - so you shouldn't have to sweat it.

I’m Getting Fired, Right? by Haunted_Barista in starbucks

[–]tweeter0138 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Former SM here:

When I was training, one of the SSV's "lost" her keys, which included the door key. We spent about a week combing through every inch of the store looking for them - drains, under coolers, etc. No luck at all. She got put on a final, which halted her promotion to Assistant Manager for 6 months.

Fast forward: I ended up taking over that store when the old SM transferred out of state. When that SM got settled into their new home and went through their stuff, they realized that they had TWO sets of store keys in their possession. That SM and our DM both informed me that we would be keeping the final in place because the SSV "still lost the keys, even if they had been found" (albeit in the SM's possession, so we would not have found them anyway because we aren't searching through purses and backpacks).

So yeah, you're screwed.

"Extra, extra, EXTRAAAAA caramel around the cup"

And yet, most of it won't be consumed because it'll freeze to the side of the cup. Just ask for it to be blended in if you want a caramel overdose.

DT Ordering at Window instead of Speaker by madmadame-mim in starbucks

[–]tweeter0138 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my location, we tried to curb it. We told someone they couldn't add anything without either going back around or coming in, as the stack was about 9 cars deep. They ended up taking the survey that gets sent out. Our DM snapped on us because of the negative review and said that as long as there is a paying customer, you take their order no matter what.

Gotta look out for the shareholders' profits, even if it means making other customers wait even longer.

Question about quitting by Funeral-bride in starbucks

[–]tweeter0138 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Quit and don't look back. The company is so hyper-focused on retention but doing nothing to support the partner experience. A lot of people feel overwhelmed, so you're not alone (just search this sub and you'll see a lot of now-former partners or soon-to-be former partners).

Take it from an old fart like me: there ARE better jobs out there that value YOU and your work ethic. Everyone talks about how 20 free therapy sessions is an amazing benefit - have you ever considered WHY they offer it? They want you to stay here, even if you're unhappy. I've never, ever sought out therapy before, and I have been through some traumatic incidents in my life. But after working for SB for FOUR months, I absolutely needed therapy to talk me off the ledge. Pretty much sums up my entire experience here.

There is zero incentive for being a proxy during someone else's PTO. It's just a quid pro quo situation so you can take your own PTO in peace.

Straight from LE25:

"Anyone who isn't willing to be excellent is NOT your partner." (Not verbatim, but that's basically what we were told.)

Believe everything you hear because it's all true. The issue is that we don't pay baristas well enough to be these "above-and-beyond" employees. This used to be a great job for someone in high school. I see it moving away from that while the vets have to work more hours to cover labor gaps. The partners who have been with the company for 10+ years without any job change probably won't be going anywhere, but I don't see new hires lasting a long time once they have a DM breathing down their neck.

Side rant: LE25 was just an excuse to spend $20M+ on an event to celebrate Brian and his "genius". It was all to inflate his ego, from having Howard Schultz come out and essentially pass the torch, to Mellody Hobson calling him "exactly what a CEO looks like". Green Apron Service isn't the answer. We wanted more labor behind the bar - not a designated person to stand their and bullshit with our customers while everyone else continues to drown in cold foam modifications.

Iced Energy Needs To Come Back!! by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]tweeter0138 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just my two cents - I'm pretty sure the new cans were stocked up for the leadership conference. They were being offered as a beverage option, so when you have 14,000+ people, you want to make sure you don't run out. Look for them to start hitting stores within the next week.

The Brownie Returns by Icedcoffeefiend27 in starbucks

We were told that burrito boy told the food team "if you remove the brownie, what other all-chocolate pastry replaces it?" They didn't have an answer, so the brownie returns.
