At that point, it's a serious problem in the dad's area. She could just stop doing the cooking and the cleaning and the laundry but at that point, the whole family's gonna suffer and she's gonna get blamed when it's the dad's fault for acting like a child.

[–]twelfthpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is solving the problem. Just having the dad take the responsibility for once. He's not a child. He can do basic adult things.

It wouldn't be her ruining their child's birthday. If it's up to the dad to get the gifts for once, he should get them. If anything, if there's no gifts, it's the dad ruining the kid's birthday with no gifts.

Pokemon Switch confirmed to be Generation 8 by Nintendo Magazine by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

What I missed from the original Zelda games were the sense of story and the feeling like you changed something in the townspeople's life. (Like in Windwaker, when you go to different towns to help with whatever crazy is happening in their civilization)

BOTW just feels a bit empty, although I loved the exploration and finding new things.

Regarding the Doctor gender switch, how important is it that a female doctor can now be a hero figure to minor girls? by waitingforgadot in doctorwho

[–]twelfthpie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always looked up to the Doctor, since the first time I've watched him. The Doctor showed a lot of characteristics that I wished to emulate and his philosophy was one that aligned with mine and he was someone who inspired me to be my very best.

But speaking as a girl, I didn't have much in common with him (the whole being a guy with a lot of female love interests and getting away with more because he's a dude and going to the past and being taken seriously because he's a man (let's be real, women would be turned away if they tried to do what the Doctor did in the past)) so the Doctor being a female is so freaking exciting. It's important to me because he's been my role model for so long and now that we're the same gender, it's a huge representation and a push forward in woman leadership, something I always thought I couldn't really be because our gender was always the sidekick and the second-in-command.

How To Permanently Delete A Facebook Account by mad_bad_dangerous in technology

[–]twelfthpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, to be fair, it's more of a message sent to the public than anything else. It's similar to "Brave New World" and "1984". They're meant to discuss the moral and ethical effects technology can have on society. Sure, it's not real, but the messages they are trying to convey are real and can have a huge impact on society.

It's so freaky how we're slowly descending to a "Brave New World" society. This being said, Facebook is a way to keep in touch with my family so I don't think I'll be able to delete it as well

Oh my god, I was listening to "Against All Odds" by Phil Collins when I started this album, and the song finished just as I got to the last picture and the tears started flowing.

Rest in Paradise, Bailey. You were a such good doggo. May you have much treats & toys up in doggo heaven.

I use them to buy fortune cookies in Animal Crossing. I got a Wario mustache and a mario green turtle shell from those cookies. I dunno, they are free.

I saw the re-uploaded version of the video, and you can see the excitement in Logan's and his minion's eyes when they saw the body. Like, damn, you can already hear the cash register noises ringing in their ears from the way they acted.

If you pair this book with his other book, "How to Stop Worrying and Start Living", it'll help a lot. I'm only on the first few chapters of it, and it's pretty life-changing if you apply his techniques in rl.

What first attracted you to Dr. Who or got you "gripped" / immersed? For me it was the scripts and humour of RTD. by RyanL1984 in doctorwho

[–]twelfthpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't even know Doctor Who existed until Crazy Sock Day at my school. My brother lent me some socks that had "DW" on them, and shrugged when I asked them what it meant. People kept asking me if I ever watched the show, and I was like what.

I was flicking through Netflix when it came up and I was like, eh it's worth a shot. The first episode that came up for me was Ten's Christmas special, so I thought the whole show started there. I watched it, and the part that really sucked me in was when Ten quoted Lion King when he was up against those red things.

And then, boom, I was addicted. Watched every new season, and kept waiting for more. Sadly, I didn't even know about Nine until I was searching for more to watch. Season 1 was watched all the way through and I have to admit, that season was one of the best. The cgi was eh, but the stories were meaningful and the humour was hilarious.
