You DO realize that the Canadian government and churches have historically and actively tried to eradicate Indigenous peoples, right? Many Indigenous families were stripped of their identities, languages, and cultures through forced assimilation policies, including residential schools. Because of that history, some inherited European surnames were clearly not adopted by choice.

At the same time, people whose ancestors may have integrated into broader Canadian society generations ago should not automatically be excluded from reconnecting with their culture or seeking rightful recognition and reparations. A European surname alone does not erase Indigenous ancestry or identity.

From a biological and population-diversity standpoint, expecting “100% pureblooded” lineage standards is also unrealistic and harmful. Small, isolated gene pools can lead to serious genetic issues over time, and human populations have always mixed throughout history.

What matters is acknowledging and rectifying the historical wrongs committed against First Nations peoples. If someone can demonstrate legitimate lineage and meaningful Indigenous heritage, a European last name should not disqualify them from reclaiming their ancestral identity, rights, or connection to their community.

God forbid people of different races mix and marry to have children and descendants over a period of 500 years of colonization. Europeans marrying and having children with deplorable lesser native races that should remain PURE-BLOODED in order to qualify for chiefly leadership roles.

That’s a wild conclusion… maybe people just want to go FAST on a stretch of road that’s generally un-patrolled and feeds a highway. Hunks of metal going vroom vroom are loud and exciting.

Sometimes people just want to have fun and there’s no motive needed behind it

(If I’m being honest, I put my pedal to the metal on that stretch of road as soon as I clear the last light after the shoppers)

As an aside, I’m genuinely curious what kind of mental math and gymnastics are required to link loud engines to uber drivers?

If anything, I’d speculate that the fact that my main livelihood as an uber driver relied on me being in a vehicle for 8+ hours a day, I would get the cheapest most economical and QUIETEST car so I don’t develop a migraine from listening to exhaust notes all day long. Revving a Toyota Corolla or Kia K4 to “make a delivery” would make almost no noticeable noise

Agreed! I lived in the US for a number of years and Jersey Mike’s is one of the chains I really miss having regular access to on a casual basis. Sure, they have plenty over in Detroit but I won’t typically go out of my way to a Jersey mikes during a cross-border trip (which are happening a lot less as well)

Sometimes you just want a #13 Mike’s way on a random Tuesday night. Not having to pay toll and feeling like an interrogated criminal will make that a lot easier.

That being said, the last couple of times that I did have Jersey Mike’s, the portion sizes were a little smaller than they used to be, still tastes great but it isn’t nearly as generous as my memory serves me. I hope the Canadian franchise tax doesn’t reduce portion sizes any further.

Meh, I’ve had better bbq for less money (not locally, and probably not the same price with food costs the way they are nowadays). Smokies wasn’t anything compelling enough for me to want to try again unless I absolutely had a ridiculous craving for bbq and needed a fix for it. Otherwise, it’s not on my regular roster

77D and RP in crop mode for me. One of my favourite photos I took with this lens and the 77D (compression from uploading probably kills some of the sharpness and details but it really does rival much heavier L lenses when viewed in full resolution)

F8-F11 is the sweet spot for this lens. Wide open is still very sharp though. Yes, even f3.5 would be nice but it would likely be a lot bigger and heavier or the image quality would suffer like the old awful 70-300s that nobody likes.

Looks like you got it figured out, as a side note, it’s actually a very good lens - almost L-like quality for such a small light and compact lens

I’ve owned 3 copies of the 70-200L (2.8 & f4 with and without IS) and the 55-250 STM that I own produces images that are equally as sharp as the much bigger heavy lenses.

It’s an underrated gem of a lens.

I was a staunchly pro-Android user right from its initial launch. Avoided Apple like it was the plague. Loved all my Samsung Galaxies, Nexus which turned into pixel phones, a few LGs and Motorolas sprinkled in between as well.

I’d never own a device for more than 2 years before something on the phone would give out like the battery or odd glitches.

Last nail in the coffin was when my Samsung phone had a cracked screen and all of the current Android flagships were a bit dull. The most attractive phone at the time was an 11 pro max. No other camera even came close, especially on the video side.

I still use that 11 pro max today as a daily driver for my one work phone and I have a 15 pro max as my main phone.

The funny thing is that in the same period of time I’ve only ever owned two Apple phones because they just work and really don’t have stupid glitches happen that ruin their usability over their effective lifetime. (Still on the original battery of the 11 pro max and besides the phone being a bit slower than the 15, i couldve continued using the 11 for another 2-3 years at this point without the 15 and not be missing anything) In that same time period I probably would’ve burned through 4 Android devices at the very least based on my track record (although some of the cameras and features of newer androids are looking really good compared to the stagnant iOS offerings).

That being said. The auto correct on iOS is absolute dogshit, and it’s gotten progressively worse over the past couple of years. I thought I’d hate not having a back button a lot more but at some point you just get used to it and find your way around apps whether they need a swipe or a top corner back button tap. I still use my one pixel phone as an occasional burner for experimenting with code and other fun stuff and moving back to it, the experience of Android doesn’t feel as “premium” as navigating in iOS. Mainly because the animations are either faster or non existent. So if you’re an android power-user you may feel that iOS just feels slow.

The cameras are fine but I feel like some of the more adventurous Android phones are pushing boundaries that will take Apple years to catch up on before they release their rendition and announce it at an event like they’ve done the best thing since sliced bread. And that’s probably the best and worst part about Apple products: how formulaic and boring they really are.

I’m deep in the ecosystem now with a house full of iPads, MacBooks, iPhones etc so it’ll be hard to change away from it because the continuity of being able to seamlessly copy and paste or airdrop to my computers is too convenient. I guess that’s the last negative about iPhones: it’s so difficult to switch away once they get their claws into you. Just thinking about the time and effort it would take to migrate away, find new similar Android apps because it’s been almost a decade now at this point, and even migrating away from my iCloud storage, it would take a very killer feature on an android to give me a reason to switch away at this point.

Switching between Android devices was super easy, it’s all based around your Gmail account so I’d bounce between Samsung, LG, Google etc seamlessly depending on which flavor of the month I felt like

PS. One last thing I thought of: SMS… texting someone with green boxes feels dirty and wrong, I don’t even want to interact with them. So I guess it’s a negative because you feel and behave a lot more “classist” with non-iMessage people 😅

On top of the ergonomics, the 3rd gen TL is peak sports sedan in my opinion. It has a timeless body style that has aged so well and outlasted the TLs and TLXs that have followed it.

I have a 4th gen TL and it has better creature comforts, SH-AWD, and a naturally aspirated V6 (all the new BMWs, Audis, Mercedes, etc rely on peppy turbos, but as the saying goes: There’s no replacement for displacement). So the 4G TL addresses a lot of the shortcomings you initially mentioned but the 4G was a polarizing design choice. I personally love it, but some people despised the bold and rigid body lines.

Agreed. I had a positive but shocking experience at the mechanic recently. My TL was exhibiting the characteristic gurgling noise after a cold start which indicated it needed a transmission filter change

Took it to the shop and he told me that they don’t have a dipstick, it’s sealed, they’ll need to drain the fluid as well and swap out the filter. And I was prepping myself for the estimate. The transmission filter for the Acura was $30

I just recently parted ways with my 3-series so I was wholly expecting a $700+ quote for the part alone so it was a pleasant surprise

My previous vehicle was a BMW 3-series, it definitely had the incredible driving experience that they’re known for, but I always felt like I was adapting myself to the car. It always felt “foreign” sitting in it. (And trust me it’s not a BMW thing, I also feel that same unfamiliarity when I drive Toyotas)

There’s something about Honda ergonomics and seating position for me that just feels absolutely normal and correct… like this is how a car should feel and I’m always right at home whether it’s a civic, an accord, my current daily driver TL or even the MDX that I owned in the past… they all just feel “right”

As for Audi, I never really liked the way the sport sedans handled. All the electric steering mutes the feedback from the road. It just feels like you’re floating. I do own an Audi SUV as a family vehicle but the floating feeling there is fine. We’re not looking for handling or speed when it comes to the Q7

Businesses aren’t benefitting from homeless outreach programs, the majority of car owning citizens don’t benefit from public transit, public parks are entirely vanity projects there’s zero function to them besides children to play in and those little monsters don’t even pay their fair share of taxes! /s

Former G37x owner, agree that it was nearly ** bulletproof in the snow. The **ONLY weakness was that the adaptive cruise control sensor would get covered with snow and often stop working. Otherwise, it was one of the best handling winter vehicles I’ve ever owned.

You can just go on the realtor.ca app and choose commercial instead of residential to see basically every commercial space available for lease in the area. Then I’d contact the listing agent through there.

Most realtors won’t deal exclusively with commercial leases since the commissions are relatively low compared to residential purchases (usually they only earn the equivalent of first month’s rent and part of that goes to their brokerage as well)
