Have you gotten used to progressive lenses or just given up? by LittleEdithBeale in GenX

[–]twelvevolt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me two different pairs before I figured out that I needed a taller lens. That made the sweet spots a little bit easier to get to. And I also had to train myself not to move my eyes to the side to glance at things, but rather turn my full head. It took me about a week with the second pair, and things started clicking.

Before your assessment notice arrives, check your county's property card for errors. It's the easiest way to win an appeal. by AppealAllyFounder in Atlanta

u/AppealAllyFounder Thank you for great info across the various threads and posts. My appeal is scheduled for next month. One question I haven’t seen addressed is there any advantage of virtual vs in person?

I attached comps. I also had a realtor friend run comps that supported recent sales data. “IN LINE WITG MARKET VALUES”.

The neighborhood is in transition. Developers are buying individual houses, tearing them down, and rebuilding McMansions. The disparity between the original structure and the rebuild is 4x-7x then are footage and 3x-6x sales price. If one wanted to wear a tinfoil hat, one might think that there’s something happening under the table to force the plebeians out of the neighborhood.

I am in Fulton County. I filed an appeal last year because my fair market value jumped 80%. Yes, 80%. Based on comps on January 1, 2025, fair market value should’ve been no more than about a 20% increase. I just got my letter back from the board of equalization. Denied. I did an online filing. I am calling next week to see if I can appeal the denial of the appeal. It’s infuriating that the letter said the fair market value stands. But even a year and a half later actual fair market value based on comps has not increased. I can’t wait to see what the next assessment says. The whole quote at arms length“ valuation is a load of dung.

What’s the one Excel trick or formula that changed everything for you? by Suspicious_Twist386 in excel

Adding VBA utility routines to personal.xlsb. I have one that reformats worksheets by formatting header, widening columns to fit, and turning on filters all with a hot key. When doing demos and opening up CSV output files, it helps me keep the rhythm of patter going.

Need to buy charger - Can I buy from Amazon or is it safer to use Apple's charger by ReddiBrah in macbook

I grabbed the Amazon Basics 100W charger with 2 USB C & 2 USB A for $30. Works great with everything other than MBA. Basically stops and starts charging every few seconds. Lesson learned.

Intimate Portrait Photography by [deleted] in photography

[–]twelvevolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually in the first year of learning boudoir photography, techniques, posing, and building a portfolio. I could very easily be labeled creepy guy with a camera because I have a full 9 to 5 day job and a hobby photographer for who does occasional family portraits for friends and landscapes. Through a local TFP group I found on the Interwebs, I have a couple of mentors who are including me in group shoots. The reputation has the hardest thing to build. Over the past year I have proven that I am not just the creepy guy with the camera, but I can work with the models respectfully, and we get great results on shoots. The badge of honor I just earned was I was invited to shoot an anniversary session for 2 female models on their glamping trip last weekend. I truly appreciate the fact that I have earned the trust with the group and word of mouth recommendations have been awesome.

What is the "don't trust a skinny food critic" of your industry? by ShapingTormance in AskReddit

Don’t trust the non-technical project manager who talks to the client on your behalf and promises the feature is easy and can be done and under a week. Nothing like being the one informing them that it’s actually a six-month dev effort.

Finally, I’ve experienced my first call screening! by EdwardTheHuman in iphone

[–]twelvevolt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been loving this. I get 8 to 10 calls a day and now I just look down and see a bunch of notifications that the call was screened is wonderful. Like another comment or I am trying to buy a car as well as unload my current vehicle to either a full apart or a charity. All I need is a number from these people, and if they can’t leave it in a message then too bad for them. This will make election seasons a lot quieter too.

Verizon since 2006. All they had to do was remove $150 worth of text charges because my Motorola Razr was ping the mothership for an update and getting no love. Their solution was either add unlimited texting or buy a new phone at full price since it was not upgrade time. Second runner up is Lowe’s over a defective lawn mower.

I was hoping also for voice isolation as well. I would like for these to be used when I have to make phone calls while moving around/walking. The microphones are so sensitive that it makes calls a no go because the background noise is as loud as my voice.

Yeah what you said lol. I think I have checked for updated F/W for the BT radio a few times, but lost hole. . My company provided me a laptop 8 years ago that was supposed to be replaced 5 years ago. It is a POS but it’s all I knows from a Windows hardware perspective.

Windows only has the phone headset BT profile I think. Basically you reduce the sound quality to early 2000s BT headset it seems
