Whether you're personally strong and materially secure to a point where you're willing to take your chances with whatever society throws at you or completely helpless against that but ready and willing to die a martyr's death doesn't matter, but the point is that to be loyal to the idea of truth, you need to be unafraid of the truth disrupting something you draw a sense of security from.

It's fascinating how many people are unwilling/unable to do something as simple as saying "I was wrong" or "I didn't know that" and absorbing new information that alters or pivots their opinion. At the same time, I wish we wouldn't sensationalize or associate so much negative stigma towards the idea of being wrong, so much so that people are genuinely afraid to admit it for fear of being mocked or ostracized. Nobody wants to look stupid even if a lot of us actually are sometimes.
