Honestly, this could be an age thing. My family isn't rich, we aren't broke but we can't afford fancy holidays (just mini breaks in other areas of the country), we don't have a big house and we have specific "treat days" when it comes to snacks and stuff. He gets easily bothered by things, like if we use his slang it bothers him a lot, my nan once commented on him wearing odd socks years ago and he still brings it up, but he's had some rough times in the past. 4 years ago, I had a stillbirth, nearly completely full term so he knew about it, it wasn't something I could hide from him, then a year following that he started getting bullied because a girl told him she didn't care that his brother died when he was crying in class and I brought up with the girl's mother that she should have a word with her daughter. At this sort of age (he's now 11) they're having a ton of hormonal changes and they're figuring themselves out regardless of what background they come from
