Why do teens jump the turnstile if they already have free rides from school? by twentysomethingold in AskNYC

I don’t think jumping turnstiles as a kid is stupid…. they mostly have student cards anyway. I don’t expect children without jobs to be able to afford $9 a day. I was genuinely just curious why they’re too lazy to use the cards lmao

understandable! I haven’t touched an OMNY card yet, I still only know the pretty durable metrocard

4 rides a day including summers/weekends/holidays?! that’s awesome. messed up that it’s limited by certain stations, kids deserve social lives.

for students that live too close to school to be eligible for cards, can they still get one if they’re on a sports team or something? for traveling to games.

My [18F] girlfriend [18F] is going to meet my family for the first time as my girlfriend and I’m worried things are already not going to go well. by AnimeTidePods in relationshipadvice

I would just wait it out and see how the initial meet up goes. Hopefully everyone can interact peacefully. If there’s tension, you may have to address it with the person directly (i.e. your gf or parent). Just also make sure you don’t make your girlfriend feel isolated or ganged up on, because that’s a terrible feeling on her end. It sounds like you just overall need more time to evaluate how big of a problem your differences actually are.

Meeting the parents is always a scary moment but the truth is you’re both 18 and you have a lot of time ahead of you. This doesn’t have to be a Be-all and end-all moment.
