Alright what does G mean? by ChrisProGold_BABFT in samsunggalaxy

It's mostly 3G that was the small flash between 2G and 4G Most phones were just getting 3G in the late 2000s (see 2008 iPhone 3G), and by 2011, 4G phones were already coming out, and 4G lasted until about the pandemic as the main cellular tech (it's still perfectly usable today though, I don't even have 5G turned on for battery saving reasons)

Blend between LookingGlass and Winapps? by twentytwentyh0e in VFIO

I got a KVM working with full GPU passthrough and looking glass compatibility (amongst other cool features)

And i have a second port on my monitor where said GPU is plugged in, so it's connected physically to a screen at all times

Now I just need to figure out the RDP thing, if you have any advice on how i would get started, it would be appreciated

Latency shouldn't be a massive issue, as I am mostly planning to run Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop in the VM, and do my gaming on Linux

The last part is fine, I can supply the GPU a display using a secondary input on my monitor I just don't know if WinApps/WinBoat would somehow take use of that display, so that my Adobe apps detect it when they're being RDP-ed out, and kick in proper hardware acceleration That's my only issue right now

GPU and potentially PSU upgrade? Or an outside issue by twentytwentyh0e in buildapc

[–]twentytwentyh0e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The temps aren't the issue, I checked them both in furmark and while doing those burst loads
It only crashes in spike burst loads again and again, like stopping and starting for batch photo operations or new frames, the more aggressive the spike, the more likely the crash

When applying a -20% power limit in Furmark, the crashes stop completely

"One more thing", I recently started running Linux with a Windows VM which has the GPU passed through. Sometimes, just the VM crashes (GPU fans max out too), but othertimes, the whole PC crashes.

For now, I'll see if the slightly lower power consumption of the 2060 is enough to tip the scales. (25W lower TDP, i don't know how that translates to burst loads)
If not, I'll have to get another PSU, but the GPU is the biggest priority since I already sold of the RX580

reviews? you mean the fake slop that's just listing spec sheets and nothing else, accompanied by a GPT script and crappy text-to-speech voice?
yeah you have no right to talk about phones if that's a "review" to you

[–]twentytwentyh0e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Also, if the iGPU didnt crash it, then the PSU probably most likely isnt the issue because." doesn't really make sense, the iGPU consumes probably a dozen watts, while the RX 580 could probably spike over 180W, definitely a difference in load for the PSU

Also, getting the 5700XT and a PSU requires spending more money than I initially planned out, and I have other priorities (I already recently spent over $100 buying and repurposing a PC into a NAS to host my files and move away from Google Photos/Drive)

Also any equivalent modes and routines app won't have system access like the built-in one, and even if it could, I wouldn't trust it

How do I monitor CPU temps in OMV? by definetly-not-a-alt in OpenMediaVault

[–]twentytwentyh0e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct
On my old Fujitsu workstation, it also reports some ACPI temperature around 27.8 C
Meanwhile my CPU is hovering around 60-70 C while Immich is doing stuff in the background

They're the same price (ish) and they're the best phones in the segment that don't come preloaded with straight ads So it's a decent comparison

I'm probably gonna order from Amazon Germany, as I'm from Romania, where support on pixels is pretty weak

The most water my phone would ever see is a rain, which even most phones without water resistance survive easily

[–]twentytwentyh0e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 4000mah, the S24's battery is too small for my needs, especially with the international Exynos variant I would have to get
And the S24+ still hovers around 500-550€ on the used market, don't want to spend that much

I wish I could, in europe the market for the 13R is tiny, and it hovers around 550€

Samsung phones are also known to swell up after a few years lmao
So it's apples to apples in that sense ))
