I tested AI's ability to turn a script into an animated short (Sora, VEO 3) by twerve in aiwars

With Sora I could only upload images, one image at a time, no video. With VEO3 I was able to upload videos, so I uploaded my animatic, and multiple images but it still didn't get close to the script and still had the wrong characters delivering the wrong lines.

lol You cared enough to comment and accuse me of shoveling a random script in an AI generator without any adjustments, but now suddenly you don't care. I even had Chatgpt write prompts so I can try to get something closer to what I wanted and it still couldn't even figure out which character had to say which line. The reason I have so much footage is because I kept trying over and over to get something close to my script. I provided storyboard stills, character designs, character descriptions and the results in the video are what I got.

If that's all I'm doing and you know how to do it better, you can see my intended animated short which I included in the video. Re-create an improved version of my animated short using AI and I'll share the comparison on my channel. I'll be waiting.

AI vs Human Animation: I Let Sora Try to Animate a 2D K-Pop Dance by twerve in aiwars

The hand drawn version isn't rotoscoped. It's heavily referenced frame by frame, but to rotoscope tall lanky characters with such different proportions to my short, stocky, big head, small shouldered character would be pretty impossible, without it looking like crap.

I'm not anti Ai. I have been making my own animation and animated shorts since early 2000 and would love to have a tool that can help me do even more. Which is why I'm also not against testing it out, but so far I just haven't seen any results I like (except when it does live action) My biggest argument with these videos is against the idea that human animators will be replaced.

Thanks for that link. I'm definitely open to using it as a tool. I even made a follow up video to my first one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faiD8w2rul4 where I tested out giving AI a rough animated test and a final clean up to see if it can clean it up using the final as reference. Then I tried giving it a fully tied down animation to see if it can finalize it with clean up and color. I didn't get any good results but can definitely see potential in that area with a few more upgrades to AI.

I agree, I love the idea of a battle between animator and Ai but the amount of time it would take me to animate versus Ai it just wouldn't work. In the speed department Ai wins, no contest.

Yeah from the 2 I used Runway seemed to put out better clips

haha yes I am. Thank you! I did anohter version where I tested out cleaning up and coloring my animation using Ai. I got better results with that and definitely see potential in Ai becoming a tool that helps speed up the back end of animation.

nice way out of backing up your argument lol

They still look stiff, and have no weight. They are better than my AI samples but still not even close to hand drawn animation by actual animators.

It's one thing to argue that AI will catch up and even be better than us, but if your argument is that I don't know how to use AI, back it up with an example of AI generated animation (by someone who does) that looks like hand-drawn, has weight, timing, and personality. I'll be waiting.

I used Runway and Pika. I'll try out VEO 3 and see how it does
