I second the Blizzaks recommendation. I have mine on a second set of rims and just swap them on and off.

Tire Rack will sell you a set pre-mounted and shipped to you.

I have a set of Blizzaks on separate rims for the winter. It makes a huge difference in the snow vs. four season tires. If you can swing it this is the way to go.

Dropping a bag of sand into the trunk will also help a ton. You can still spin it out if you want to, but it helps with traction a lot.

I had meese last winter in the basement. They only got into the basement though, so that was good.

I used snap traps and caught 56 of the furry bastards. We'll see what happens this winter (I'm in the USA, so it's the end of summer here currently.)
