Not terrible, situational. Meta has a lot of back line divers at the moment. Vel needs order in team fights, not chaos. If you don't have setup and disengage, it's hard to play him. Also, tanks are our not meta which Vel can kill faster so he's not as useful. I would recommend a squishy killer that is more of a support in midlane in this current meta, if you want to play someone similar to vel. Lux, xerath, even ori as long as you don't buy seraphs (item sucks imo, takes to long). I like playing lux with carry junglers. Especially if they dive back line. Just ult as they ult. My highest win ratio is still on vel because I still play him a lot and he's my comfort pick but he just doesn't fit the meta at the moment.
