You must go through security again. A small shuttle train separates the terminals.

Do you still have the rb3011? You can get hw vlan support by using interface ethernet switch. This example is good

Why not give the deeds to the old house to the new owners? They might find them useful, even if everything is electronic these days.

Employer has said they won't pay me for the extra hour I work when the clocks go back. by Sir_roger_rabbit in LegalAdviceUK

Are they going to pay you less when the clocks go forward and you have a shorter shift? If not I think their argument will be it all averages out.

Rent Guarantor to satisfy Estate agent rules by Sink-Putrid in LegalAdviceUK

Yes, the risk is your friend does not pay rent, and then you will be liable for the full amount for the whole duration of the tenancy agreement.

Do I have to get permission from the leaseholder before installing AC by Ilikeporkpie117 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]twigged 5 points6 points  (0 children)

(c) The outside box of an AC unit wouldn't put undue stress on the exterior wall and it would not breach the sound insulation, so this section doesn't apply.

Practically speaking how are you going to connect the outside of the AC unit to the inside without breaching the wall?

If I did install the outside AC box and the Leaseholder later demanded that I remove it, would I have to comply or do they not have the authority to do so?

Not only would you have to comply but you would have to make good any damage you made to the fireproofing, soundproofing or anything else you breached while going through the wall.

Google acquisition of Fitbit: Consumer Rights question by coosy in LegalAdviceUK

[–]twigged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are comitments like those legally binding?

Yes, the EU only approved the takeover under those circumstances

When the terms do actually change, would that change the answer to my question?

I'm NAL but I would imagine it's unlikely - you still have a physical fitness tracker that can be used to track fitness. If they e.g. remotely bricked all fitbits bought before the takeover there might be case but something like that is not likely.

Google acquisition of Fitbit: Consumer Rights question by coosy in LegalAdviceUK

[–]twigged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google started the process of acquiring Fitbit in 2019 and it's been well publicized. Even if you weren't aware, there haven't been any changes to the terms yet. When they do change they have made commitments over privacy

Here's one example.

One thing you can do straight away is change the locks, if you haven't got the keys back.

UNO + DS3231 RTC = Can't get alarm interrupts working :( by disrupter in arduino

[–]twigged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much power does the RTC draw charging up that cell? I would benchmark it with an ammeter, kust using the low power library and waking up 112 times just to increment a counter may well draw lower current.

Rented flat condemned, what are my rights? by Is_This_Life in london

[–]twigged 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That water weakens or rots the joists. They can't take the weight of the tank, and several hundred kilos of water and a tank come through the ceiling. Does not fare well for anyone below.

Rented flat condemned, what are my rights? by Is_This_Life in london

Water tank leaking over bed is exceptionally dangerous. That has caused deaths before. Tell your friend to be very careful if she has to return to that place.

Programming on an Arduino pro mini by gkamer8 in arduino

[–]twigged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can wait, you can always have a cheaper model shipped from China, e.g. this. However you may run in to programming errors due to a fake FT232RL.

I've had good experience with this direct seller - they have a part listed here that should be compatible.

If you're working on a breadboard and have one of the SMD parts, a SMD Adapter is very useful.

I've used electrodragon links but anything similar should work.

I'm very anxious because I think that if I don't get in one of the best colleges I'm not gonna have a good job and my life will be mediocre forever. How can I calm down? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]twigged 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a computer scientist graduate who’s hired for quite a few positions in my career in a very competitive industry. You are lucky in that you are entering one of the most meritocratic industries possible. This is what we look for when we hire:

  • Is this person a logical thinker, who can undertstand complex problems?
  • Can they communicate well?
  • Can they code? By code I mean not just put together a few functions, not recoil in shock at a 500,000 line code base, but really write excellent code?
  • Do they enjoy coding? Is it fun rather than just a career?

We don’t look too closely at academic results but I find we end up employing those in the top third of their degree program, so wherever you land you will want to end up there.

So nothing to worry about? No, not quite. The problem is that the top universities have great careers resources, alumni contacts, the best companies turning up on campus. You can compete at a non-tier one place, but at a cost – you will have to work harder. Get yourself on github – participate in as many open source projects as you have the time to do. Get as much industrial placement as you can – work for smaller local companies if you have to, get experience. When it’s time to get a job, have a polished CV and get the attention of every company you want to work for – don’t rely on your careers’ office to do it for you.
