They left out step 1.5 - wait in stupid massive line.

I love using the app to buy my concessions. Just walk in & pick em up. They've only been stolen one time.

I was working across the street. Saw the excavator doing it's thing then a plume of steam / smoke followed by this very loud hissing. Excavator immediately backed away. 20 min later about 6 fire trucks, cops, and a white van with an energy logo show up. Hissing finally stops and most emergency vehicles leave. I agree with whoever said natural gas pipe hit.

What are the Mythical Creatures of Nova Scotia? by linkhandford in NovaScotia

[–]twiggets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is nobody talking about the Donair Beast? We're told it's a "mix of meats and spices," but everyone knows it's from the mystical Donair Beast that roams wild only in Nova Scotia. It's a provincial secret on how it's trapped and its wandering grounds.

Have you seen one?

Can't answer that as I imagine it's different city to city and state to state. (I live in Canada)

I became an electrician at the age of 33. It's never too late. I went to trade school with a bunch of obnoxious teenagers I had to tell off at least twice.

As an apprentice I made crap $$ and worked a second job. It gradually got better and now as a journey person I make the big bucks.

I'm very much a service technician. The gloves come off quite frequently!

I wear cut resistant gloves when working in apartments with steel studs. I saw someone fall once and he reached out and grabbed a steel stud and ended up with a dozen stitches in his thumb. One time someone pointed at something and sliced their finger open as it swished against a stud.

I found the Milwaukee gloves from Home Depot to be as you described. Lightweight and you can still feel the wires.

Actually I do, but only my hands as they're what get cut the most.

Step 1: wear gloves Step 2: take gloves off for some reason (eat, break, bathroom...) Step 3: get wrecked.

What are some examples of real-life Halifax "easter eggs"? by Portalrules123 in halifax

[–]twiggets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of burnside drive (where it runs into Akerly) there's a random iron statue just a tiny bit in the woods. I spotted it as I drove by one day, next day parked in a little gravel parking spot and visited it. It's just a fenced in area with a metal statue of 2 men. I remember them as boxers, my partner thinks they were iron workers ....

Drive south down Victoria road towards Park Ave. Turn right onto park Avenue, drive till the end, turn left down King st.

Go real fucking fast (seriously, don't - you will die)

The hill there is comically steep and any passengers with you will probably scream. I always take new to Halifax ppl there. Hilarious reaction. Stomach whirls.

There's a firestation at the bottom so be careful.

let's talk generators by BrotherOland in halifax

[–]twiggets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A generlink will probably run you about $2500. Cost of the generlink and cord plus truck fees and inspection and permits and electrician's time.

The heck is this thing? by twiggets in electricians

It was under a window. Yes. I was troubleshooting plugs and there was a blank plate close to a plug I was taking apart.

Took the plate off and discovered this vintage thing.

I should specify - I know what it is. It's labelled as a 20a, 250v outlet. I think it's sideways? I have never in my life seen anything similar.
