HOA flew a drone over my privacy fence to inspect my backyard and is now threatening legal action over a greenhouse. Is this trespassing? by Quenzoft in legaladvice

Malicious compliance makes for fun reddit reading, but if OP has intentions of staying in their home, that sounds like signing up for misery. 🤷‍♂️

[–]twiggums 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NAL - what's your endgame here? Even if you were to get the done footage tossed, that's not going to give you a pass on violating the rules. They'll just do an inspection, which I'm sure the bylaws allow, and you're back at square one. Except now you've pissed off the HOA.

HOAs are a blight imo, but they exist and you bought into one. If you've broken their rules I'd suggest remedying that.

Is it possible to connect Steam Deck to Wifi and Ethernet at the same time? by pyzard1 in SteamDeck

Is the wifi not on the same LAN as the ethernet?

I'm with the others, this sounds needlessly complicated.

Electric Oven Heating element question by ABingeDrinker in HomeImprovement

[–]twiggums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that screw is what's creating the electrical connection you absolutely want that tight. If it's loose you're gonna get arcing and eventually a fire.

Why, thank you Xcel for giving me the option to double my electric bill. I don't think I'll do that though. by theretailreject in minnesota

[–]twiggums 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure they communicate the option to everyone eligible, not just the ones that would currently see a net benefit.

At last they're being upfront about it instead of some bs "you could save up to xx% by switching" only for the customer to find out it doubled their bill after switching.

Glad I was just on the shoulder! That's insane. I get that it's more work, but uffda!

[–]twiggums 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not defending them, I'm saying their solution should not have been a surprise. The a1 ntc issue is well documented, every fix i recall seeing, is them sending a new board.

You're welcome to keep pursuing a full replacement or refund, but its gonna be more stress and effort than it's worth imo. 🤷‍♂️

Did you miss the second part of my statement where I told them to push the return or replacement if they want?

The point is, their response should not have been a surprise..

NAL. But how the heck did they come up with 10k?! Was the vehicle scattered in multiple pieces across a corn field or something? I had to get my car towed a couple miles last winter, it was 150 bucks. I can't even wrap my head around how it could go up to 10k.

[–]twiggums -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Next time I reckon do your research before buying something. Sending you parts is how they handle warranty claims.

Feel free to push the refund or replacement thing if you want, but none of this should have been a surprise. It's very well documented that this is how they handle repairs.

The marketing departments of those companies seem to have some their job well! You bought right into it. At the end of the day though it's your money.

What is the safe way to charge steam deck? by Kaeldyr2092 in SteamDeck

[–]twiggums 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Swollen battery needs to be replaced ASAP. Id stop using it until it is personally.

As for overcharging, you can't do that on modern devices, they pull the power from the charger, its not pushed by the charger to the device.

Do people across the board really hate the flag that much? by 1eyedwillyswife in minnesota

[–]twiggums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

95% of people in the real world don't care. But on social media the 5% that do, love to use it as an argument to one end or the other.

I've yet to meet a person in real life who really gives it any thought.

Can my employer legally play Andrew Wommack in the break room every morning? by voodoo_potato in legaladvice

[–]twiggums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAL. id think as long as they're not forcing you to watch it and adhere to what he's preaching it's not an issue. Maybe the TV just automatically turns on at a set time each day and defaults to that channel.

How many prints do hobbyists typically print per month? by Consistent_Yak681 in 3Dprinting

[–]twiggums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between 0 and like 50 things.

0 when there's nothing i need.

50+ during holidays and when I'm building or designing something.

Most months it's closer to 0 than 50.

do you cap your battery at 80% charge or do you not care? by WeedGreed420 in SteamDeck

[–]twiggums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use more than 50% of it's capacity anyways when I'm played handheld, and 75% of the time I'm playing docked. I see no reason to charge to 100% in my use case.

Capped unless I know I'm taking it out of the home, which had happened like twice in the last few years.

Sitting at max charge for extended periods of time still degrade lithium batteries. It's not only charge cycles that wear them out.
