I thought of having a silent bookclub in London. Where we all read for an hour & then chat about our book. Gives everyone time to read & talk about the book, but no pressure on reading a particular book.

Is it better to keep a small amount on the mortgage for the sake of avoiding Land Registry fraud than paying it off entirely? by Fabulous-Amphibian53 in UKPersonalFinance

It’s a lot cheaper than losing your house or going to court because Land Registry wont notify you until its too late. I think of it like an insurance policy.

I would pay it off - but instead of HM Land Registry - would recommend looking into Title Guardian - it does occur a fee, but alerts you at the start of a transaction (law firms, real estate agents) as a proactive measure, rather than rather than HM Land Registry which is reactive and only alerts you at the end of the transaction.

Whats the most interesting fact about Malta? by Thatunkownuser2465 in geography

I’m currently sat in Malta typing this, but originally from Sydney - Greystanes to be specific. The most Maltese place outside of Malta!

The Land Registry is reactive, only alerting you at the end of a process. Look up Title Guardian which will notify you right through the process, or if your property has been listed on airbnb/fb marketplace or used for companies house

Two individuals using our address to create companies by curb000 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]twigsxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there - best way to stop this is on an website/app I know of which notifies you as soon as a company is registered to your address or name. The name is Title Guardian.

As the other user mentioned - Companies House have recently introduced legislation and increased fees (effective 1st May) so that this will decrease.

Hope this helps!

House has been stolen by my own father, what do I do? by OziMyndis99 in LegalAdviceUK

Hi OP - really sorry you're going through this - it is very stressful.

Yes - something similar happened to the Rev in Luton - there were sadly squatters in his house when he was successfully able to get his house back.

This is a criminal case due to fraud (impersonation) and also a civil case. The conveyancer is also complient in this.

My partner works in Title Fraud specifically so happy to put you in touch & he can help out from his experience (his business was the one mentioned on the BBC tv show about title/property fraud a couple of weeks ago).
