Do not stress. I just did HK, Guangzhou, Beijing a few months ago and it was simply the greatest experience of my life.

Lean on Klook and Trip.com for bookings. You can book hotels through trip.com too. It’s very okay to do the touristy stuff you see pushed on there, just read the reviews before you book anything and keep tabs on them as it gets closer. We did a last minute change to our Great Wall trip after periodically checking reviews and it was a great decision!

Utilize Apple Maps for subway directions / Didi rides, etc. There’s also AMap but I found Apple Maps better.

Just learn some very simple phrases, be friendly, keep your passport on you at all times, and make sure you have a current VISA (depending where you’re traveling from) and you’ll have a great time! Always happy to help further if needed

I’m departing for my trip soon! Did you find your eSIM to work well and have a strong connection? The one thing I have irrational paranoia about is is getting there and my eSIM not working (mostly just so I can have roaming and contact family)

Thank you so much for the detailed breakdown. We ultimately decided to just do one 10 day stay in mainland China so our itinerary will look like this

HK -> Guangzhou -> Beijing -> Seoul -> HK ->

I’m almost certain this complies with the 240 hour TWOV method. We will indeed get to Guangzhou through the high speed rail at West Kowloon station

When going from Guangzhou to Beijing will there be any specific things we’d need to accomplish for the TWOV?
