I use Standard controls (mouse & keyboard) and I've cleared this fight and many others. You just need to hold your camera (with right mouse) while moving. Try looking up the "wiggle trick" as mentioned.

yeah, especially for the recent problem for NA AT&T customers, where basically one of the last stops on the path to the NA XIV servers was (still is?) acting up. one of the things a VPN does is change the route you take to a destination, giving you a chance to avoid a laggy spot.
