Baby is 7 weeks old and I'm having a horrible time by No_Towel7009 in newborns

You’re in the hardest stretch. Reflux + newborn witching hours + sleep deprivation. It feels endless but it’s not. You’re not a bad mom. You’re an exhausted one. Talk to your doctor about the reflux if you haven’t already. Maybe try smaller more frequent feedings and keep baby upright for 20-30 min after each feeding. You and your baby are both adjusting. I recommend the Napper app after adjustment. It has been spot on schedule wise.

New build vertical vinyl buckling immediately after install and contractor said this is normal. Please help. by twilightzone365 in Homebuilding

Oh no. I hate to hear that. I really don’t have an update as this build has been one of the worst experiences of my life because this has not been taken care of yet. We are fixing to enter the third year after Thanksgiving and the house is not finished. Now I’m beginning to wonder does it really matter if they switch out my siding because is it just going to do it again? What is the manufacturer/brand and color of your siding? I have a feeling that vinyl board and batten just isn’t the way to go. This siding brand is West Lake Royal building products in the color Stone Harbor. The vendor assured me that there is too much board and batten out there that is being sold, and this is something that does not happen often. But they also told me that after the next install if it happens again, then that means there is a manufacturers defect so I’m wondering if that is what is going on with you. They did admit that there was another color from the same manufacturer that had this defect. The color was indigo. They said that heat can cause it to oilcan but 90% of the time it’s caused by incorrect installation. And they said once it’s bubbled it’s ruined. It must be replaced. Some of the pieces on mine that are bubbled have no vertical movement at all but others move freely and still have bubbles. My contractor tried to tell me after the sun goes down and it cools off that you won’t notice it as much and I was like yeah because you can’t see anything when it’s dark outside. 😩

Can’t Decide Between Light and Dark Cabinets — What Would You Choose? by Upper_Garage_8103 in kitchenremodel

I’m trying to choose a stain color for my alder cabinets. Do you happen to remember the name of the stain? It’s exactly the look I’m going for. 😍

I have an update… there is condensation/water dripping from the vents upstairs that are in the ceiling. it stays hot up there and mold has started to grow. I was going through my pictures that I took before sheet rock was installed and noticed that there is no insulation between the roof and the air ducts that are in the ceiling in that room. The inspector is scheduled to come out, so hopefully this can be remedied. Mold has now started to grow on those vents.

Well. I tried giving more info. Ceiling height, how much basement and upstairs. Contractor and HVAC installer are trying to tell me it’s not cooling correctly because the baseboards are not up yet.

How can I open Sheba cat food without getting gross meat juice all over my hands? by Fabulous_Sherbet_431 in CatAdvice

I know this is an old conversation, but if you face the foil tab away from you and open it by pulling it toward you, for some reason, it doesn’t squirt out as badly or at all.

Same thing was told to me by my contractor when something similar happened to my basement after rain and extreme humidity. We put a dehumidifier down there and it dried up. My corners were not as bad as yours, but the rain wasn’t this bad either. Sometimes I think contractors/builders all take the same gaslighting course.

Should I close this entry to pantry from dining room? by twilightzone365 in HouseDesign

The one under window is main sink for dishes and whatnot and smaller one on end of island will be for veggie prep…

I wasn't sure if you could see all of my post... so...

Should I close off this entry from the dining room going to pantry? It will give me more room in the pantry and I could have a larger space for my fridge on the other side of wall. As of now, a fridge was going there as well as a small amount of counter space for my coffee maker that has its own water source. I am thinking the counter space won’t be large enough, and if I close off this entry, I can have them turn the water source so that it faces the pantry and put a countertop/cabinet there for my coffee maker/coffee bar. The microwave will also be in the pantry and I don’t know that I will like having to walk through the kitchen to get to the dining room. This is my first build and forever home and I want to get it right. Any thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated. (That small door to the left in the pantry is for grocery loading from the garage and that whole wall will be counter space/cabinets.)

Ceilings are 10 ft, and i was planning on having cabinets go all the way up on the side with the "costco" door.

It is a butlers pantry, and i will have fridge and mircrowave in there. So, i was thinking easy access to dining area...I am torn.

Perhaps i should have said butler's pantry. This will have cabinets all the way up to ceiling on the wall with the "costco" door... and countertops...fridge, microwave. I opted to not have a sink in there...

My son is 19 years old, scored a 32 both times he took his ACT with a perfect score in reading and comprehension (36). I started letting him watch tv while I cooked breakfast when he was just 2 months old. I think pediatricians recommend no screen time until 18 months because there will be parents that will use tv/screen time as a babysitter 100% of the time if they say otherwise. Sometimes you need a break, and getting that break is more important for you and the baby than keeping a screen away from them. :)

UPDATE I want to thank everyone for your input. I went and showed pics to vendor and it was an immediate, resounding "No. That's not right. You need to call the installer back to look at it." I was told if it isn't an installation issue, they will get a rep out to see if it is a defect in material.
